Default Weekly Check-In April 13-19, 2008 Welcome New Community Members

Hi Everyone..And a warm welcome to our new community members!..Pull up a chair and join us

My daughter got here from N Carolina yesterday afternoon to visit untill Tuesday..It is so good to see her, as I havent seen her since the summer..She lost some weight, and brought her new dog with her, a Basset Hound..Cute freindly dog, but my cats are not happy....They'll just have to get over it..I really wish that she had not moved so far away, but what can you do?

Ive still been busy out in the yard inbetween the rain drops..I pulled the lawnmowers out today and started them up to get them ready..I also hauled my boat out last Sunday, to get it ready for another season..I have to paint the bottom and change a few things around..I hope I can get through another season, because I have not been feeling good lately..Weak, stiff, etc..I go through this every winter from being idle too long, but when I get active it has always passed..Hopefully it will be the case this year..Im not any worse than Ive ever been thankfully

We had an APDA board meeting last Tuesday night, and we got out pictures with Lonnie Ali..Here is mine

How was your week?

Spring is the same for me, but I believe the exercisese and mental stimulation that comes with the warmer weather work holds the PD progression at bay. I've been trrying to get up to speed now to make up for not getting there last year. It has been delayed again. Tuesday I go in for surgery on both wrists. I'm told that I won't have use of either hand for 4 to 8 days. They tell me the burning sensation is severe carpal tunnel due to all the years of tremors. I've hired a young man to help out around here, hopefully that will take some of the pressure off. The following is a photo of my grrey horses who was used as a model last week.

Hi Steve,

I'm glad you got company, and things are coming along for you. I'll second on the stiffness, but I've been really feeling really well these past few weeks now that I've gotten used to my medication schedule.

This past weekend, I attended a Piano World gathering on Long Island. I visited with some dear friends, met a lot of new people, and played some awesome pianos. There was one house that has two grand pianos. One is a concert-size Mason & Hamlin CC at 9'4", and the other a smaller parlor-size instrument. The smaller instrument, an Estonia 190 (6'4") looked like a baby grand in the same room. After an exciting Saturday, with the trip, including a ferry ride from Bridgeport to Port Jefferson, we visited another private home on Sunday. This person has a Steinway Model D in their music room. This is also a concert-sized grand at 8'11" long. This is a very elegant home with a very wonderful and elegant piano. I was in piano-heaven with this instrument, and really enjoyed this one more than the other two. Now if I had $70k for this rebuilt 1960's instrumet, along with the room for it, I would gladly take it home.

I was quite exhausted when I got home and slept for about 2-1/2 hours after I took my scheduled meds. Getting up today was a chore, and I'm quite stiff today but I am managing to get around okay. I also went for a job interview today with an agency. They liked my resume, and have a client ready to take me. The benies look good, along with a substantial salary increase. Let's hope this goes well because my current job is getting scarily slow. I did not mention anything about the PD, and there's no reason to discuss this at this time according to the ADA.

Anyway, I'm glad you had a great weekend and got to see your daughter. Spring has sprung a little bit here, but not as much as where you are.

John

Default good morning

The week is half over,so I thought I'd better sign in.

Life is settling into normal for me. I spent the first 6 weeks after my move getting everything into place, then I stood around and gazed over my little corner of the world and kept everything clean and tidy....latley I notice I've moved into what I call the "living here" stage. My shoes are aall over the place. there is a pile of laundry on the coffee table, my kitchen table is the center of my universe and I don't make my bed every day... So yes, I would say I'm beginning to feel at home.

I'm still in limbo with regard to a new computer...I'm using my son in laws lap top until next week when he goes on the road. So if anyone feels the inclination to donate to my computer fund, donations are gratefully accepted

I saw a Naturopathic Dr. last week. What a difference in attitude. I figure if traditional medicine can't cure me I may as well be as healthy as possible. Will let you know if anything earthshaking comes of it..
