Default Weekly Check- In May 11-17, 2008 Welcome New Community Members

Hi Everyone..A warm welcome to our new community members!..We are happy that you found us

I started the fishing season on Monday the same way I started it last year, with mechanical problems..I started up my outboard, it started right up, then it stalled, and that was it..So its in the shop being fixed..I was talking to a friend on the dock, and was lamenting about how Ive never had any luck with mechanical things..He went to start his car and it went *click*..I said.."There!..Thats what you get for hanging around with me!"

Other than that its been a quiet week..Ive been feeling better, all except for this anxious feeling in my chest..Its not a nervous anxiety either..It feels like somebody is standing on the bottom of my rib cage..It comes and goes, mostly later on at night..Weird!

How was your week?

Default In and out of the hospital

Hi Everyone:

This was a different kind of week:

For some time now I've been plagued by a now and again rapid heart beat abd chest pains. This past week the rapid heart beats became more frequent, so much so that I couldn't ignore it or toss it off. I told my wife about it and we went off to the Emergency Room (Maine Medical). They admitted me and put me on a round of trials to find out the source of the problem. It turns out I had a malfunction in my heart--basically an electrical short. They tried treating it with medication. When that didn't work they opted for a procedure (they don't call it an operation) the purpose of which is to zap the offending circuitry. I went under the zap a few days ago, had a night of interesting hallucinations and then went home. No more rapid heart beat, no more chest pains. My tremor seems to have calmed down a bit although that was not supposed to be in the script. Today I'm playing with my Grandson.

Another thing. The hospital was great. The nurses were wonderful. The doctors were kind and knowledgeable. Am I the only one on this board who is receiving top quality care?

All the best,

Lloyd

Default Lloyd

Sounds like your cardiac "storm" had a happy ending! Glad to hear it.

Does anyone need rain? We in northwest LA have plenty to share. According to reports, about 10 inches have fallen here in the past 9 hours with more now falling and moving in from the West. Fire department personnel have rescued some people from homes over near the Red River, and at least one Red Cross shelter has opened for flooded out folks. More shelters may be needed, because the forecast is for this to continue another 10-15 hours.
Our home is safely above any flood levels of anyone's memory, but several local schools are closed today in surrounding neighborhoods.

Everyone have a good, DRY week!
