Hi Kim,
how are you? I will be happy to give you whatever info you need about my ayurvedic care I had. Please dont hesitate to ask, you can send me a pm if you wish'
I went to an ayurvdeic center run by Dr. Ravindran, in a city called Coimbattore in South India. I stayed there for three weeks, did everything as they said and felt better and energised/
After my return. couldnt continue with oil massages and maintaining a stress free life was not easy either!
Here are my answers to your Qs:

[QUOTE=Canna;563340]Girija.

I am so interested to hear about the care your received in India and, if you don't mind, the cost as well.
It costs about 50,000 indian rupees = 1000-1250$ for a single room, food, and treatments (all included for 3 weeks of treatment). Meds extra 2oo$

Are you maintaining a vata-pacifying diet and if so, is it difficult to keep? m
Diet is easy fo r me because I cook Indian food all the time and managed to follow the diet (well 80% of the time)

What other practices did you incorporate into your life that were recommended to you there? Did they stress some as being more important than others? y]
Yoga
positive attitude,
healthy food
8h of rest
stress- free life

managed the first thrree, 4th and 5th are tough ones for me

good luck and feel free to ask Qs!

girija

Hi folks,
I am headed to India myself for ayurvedic treatment. I will report back when I return.

Meanwhile, about the metals thing - well, from my very limited understanding, some trace metals are considered part of the curative Ayurvedic mix for some people. But I would also say for everyone alarmed about possible metal content - um, many of us consume food out of cans, cook it in non-stick cookware or use other unstable metals or plastics in food preparation. There are unbelievable toxins in many of the products we use everyday intimately - cosmetics, cleaning products, tampons, you name it. Not to mention that many Western medications are made in China, where they don't have to actually pass FDA standards in their making.... Would that there was more concern and outcry about these.

Talk to you all soon.

Hi Girija. Thanks for getting back to me. Could you say what specific improvements to your condition resulted from your treatment? Are they long lasting or will you need to go back?

Kim,
Specific improvements I noticed are: Balance is better
medication lasts longer
I stopped Carbidopa in the nights
cut down mirapex from 3 times a day to once or twice 1mg or 1,5mg per day
Yoga relieved my back ache
Acupuncture is another one I started and that helped in reducing the stiffness of muscles.
Hope it helps

Its been an year and I am doing fine> Whether needed or not, I would love to back for a 3 weeks of bliss and peace!
