Default balance problem

Does Sinemet help with balance? Does any PD med help with balance? I'm afraid I might fall. Thanks.

Mac, I think some people find amantadine to be helpful with balance.

Amantadine does the trick for me - it is amazingly helpful. It takes only 100 mg per day (in the morning) for me to have almost normal balance, I can even turn and swivel. Without it I am very tippy and off balance.
It does make my ankles purple.......... small price to pay for getting my balance restored.

PD is a strange disease as you probably know, it affects everyone differently. The drugs that are available affect people differently also. One person may have great success with a drug while someone else has no benefit at all.

Generally speaking sinemet helps with tremor, rigidity and stiffness. Over time the effectiveness diminishes and increased dosage is required which cause a whole new set of symptoms.

Do you have a regular neurologist or a MDS (movement disorder specialist). If you don't have a MDS I suggest finding one.

Hope this helps, good luck.

I am now 65 and was diagnosed 2 years ago and since then the neurologists have wanted to start me on sinemet but I am not convinced because I am able to coup without fallowing a hard regime of exercise and supplements.
My problem with sinemet is that it may not be useful to relieve my main symptoms (gait and tremor) while I am able to coupe with tension through exercise.
That is the reason I needed feedback on what symptoms are usually helped by sinemet

I should add that almost everyone pretty much responds to sinemet.
