Default Azilect Question

I have been on Azilect about a year and a half now.....1 mg daily. I also take 4mg Requip 3 times daily; take 1200 mg daily Vitaline CoQ10 and work out at the gym at least 30 minutes everyday.

Internal tremors were my first symptom and they were not mild. Requip does a good job with the internal tremors but when my MDS added the Azilect my body really slowed down with the shaking. I had no side effects that I know of. When I went for my evaluation 6 months after beginning the Azilect, I showed very little progression. The next evaluation 6 months after that, again I showed almost no progression. Three weeks ago, I had my next 6 month evaluation and again I had almost microscopic progression. My MDS is tickled to death but is not as thrilled as I am. Now do not get me wrong, my PD has not stopped but it definitely has measurably slowed down.....big time and I am just sure it is the Azilect as is my doc. I realize everyone is different but one thing is sure with Azilect.........one needs to stay on it at least 6 months to get a proper reading on what it is or is not going to do.
I love Azilect......it has definitely improved my quality of life.

Thanks caya,

It's hard to say what slows down the illness. I am feeling a little better now tho and have noticed a few things. This is going to take awhile to make sure it's not a placebo effect, but I think I am seeing my hand relax, which is a major problem - my hand is always cramped and crooked, like it would be with rheumatoid arthritis, and it hurts to use it. I do feel different, but it's starting to show benefits. Interestingly, and more than some of you needed to hear, I am not "leaking". There is a drying out factor [like I could get any dryer than no saliva at all sometimes...lol], but this new dryness is either a muscular benefit or I need to drink even more water. I can double the dose after 30 days, so this is worth trying so far.

regaining any control is nice!
pd 20 yrs; diagnosed 16
also - sinemet, amantadine, prilosec, synthroid, xanax [for sleep]

Default Hi Mouse

Reply to all,

I was diagnosed with PD three weeks ago. MD prescribed .5 mg of azilect. So far I don't see any improvement but probably too soon to tell. The only side effect is extreme tiredness requiring me to lie down at times. I had been taking lexapro and have recently discontinued it because of interaction with the azilect. perhaps this is causing the tirednesss. Any one else taking Lexapro with azilect? best wishes.

Sydelle.
