DocJohn has included guidelines here on copyright to which every member agrees to adhere when they post here

when we get complaints from authors and publications of their work being copied here without their permission we have to comply

when any work has "copyright" attached to it...that is it...it is copyright and we have to comply with it

I am sorry that this makes you unhappy, but we have to heed copyright
DocJohn posted the copyright guidelines
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ad.php?t=37384

all of us have to adhere to that so it is in no way personal. as we have made many requests by PM and on this forum about copyright, we are now having to edit and post a reminder so that all will please comply

thank you

Please, I'd like to add something to this discussion.

Many "legal" issues are complex. The most absolute definition
of what is fair use, etc, can be argued back and forth forever by lawyers, IMO. ( I am married to a lawyer).

I don't think posters here understand how much time and effort it is for DocJohn just to read the complaints and respond to them. I think we need to take this into consideration when the terms of service here request that we post a certain way.

I think the concept here of "being right" is foreshadowing the request to help make the board run more efficiently.

By providing links rather than copying copyrighted text is not reducing the validity of the content of the post.

I think the parties making the complaints to DocJohn, may have an imperfect idea about copyright anyway.

But the bottom line is not "who is right", but to help this forum run better for all concerned.

I would hate to see informational posts banned like some other forums on the net do. I post informational content, and the educational value is tremendous, IMO. I for one will do anything to keep this feature intact. I read here often and appreciate the content.

I will add: I think full links should be used, and not blind links/hyper links like "click here". All readers should have an idea of where the link is going, IMO, for safety.

So Tena, please consider this too. I enjoy your posts and consider them valuable. But please for the sake of all of us, doing what the administrators here request is the best way for now.

:I confess to almighty God,
:and to you, my brothers and sisters,
:that I have sinned through my own fault,
:in my thoughts and in my words,
