I have researched it enough to now know that even though fluctuations in hormones during menopause do not really cause PN, it sure can irritate a woman's nerves greatly. Sometimes during a hot flash, I will feel electric shocks and prickly sensations over my body. I came across this site that explains what I feel sometimes....

a full panel is done in regard to the thyroid? My own shut down totally when going thru meno. Metabolic and hormone panels both likely should be done?
I would suggest that you overload your mind w/Mrs D's advice on vitamin B-12 as well. Just go up to the top blue bar and click on the 'search' featuer and keyin B 12! It is a LOT to learn and asorb. Which is why I suggest that you go slow. Too much info either good or bad? Muddles a mind hurting and a body in pain. Your body changes greatly during the whole meno process. There are things and meds that can help this issue! GO! get tested! ![]() |

Thanks dahlek. I have had a lot of blood work, and so far everything is ok, including my thyroid, I do however, need to work on getting my supplements in order again. But oh yes, PN and menopause at the same time, How fun. ![]() |

Thanks Trish. Going through menopause is something we woman just have to deal with. Some women don't have many problems with it, like my grandma. With others it's sheer hell. I watched my mom suffer horribly with it, and it has unfortunately affected me in the same way. So now we find that fluctuating hormones do affect ones neuropathy. It doesn't even have to be menopause either, some women will notice their pain levels rise and fall during their normal menstrual cycles. When I posted this on a menopausal forum, several women came forward and spoke about neuropathy coming on or getting worse during this time of life. I guess I'm not alone.....

Oh Hope I can believe menstrual cycles can make PN worse. I know it can make it worse with other types of health issue too. So definitely with your body going through changes will aggravate your PN worse.
I did not get the night sweats, but the hot flashes are miserable. Those are the time you want to stick your whole body in the freezer. ![]() So sorry to hear that it is affecting you hard, and glad to hear that you are talking with others about it. Don't know what exactly phrase you are in menopause but hopefully it will pass soon. Trish ![]() |
