Low blood pressure or hypotension as well as low pulse, bradycardia can be symptoms of small fiber neuropathy. Those were my presenting symptoms.

Well, this says I have already voted on this poll, so I see the poll started in January--so, can I change my vote. All through the summer, I kept telling my PCP that I was not comfortable with my BP and he kept telling me it's fine. All my life it's ran 108/60, sometimes 110/62. This summer it started to rise and he says, "As we age, it does tend to rise some, don't worry." Well, it was 115/65, then 120/70, then it would be 125/70, 130/70. I kept fretting and he kept saying, "Deb, it's ok, really." So, I decided it was time to not worry, he wasn't. So I went back to trying to figure out what is going on with the rest of me, which no one can figure out either. So on the day my PCP says to me, "Ummmmm Deb, I am a little worried about your BP, it's a bit high for you today, I think we will do a sonagram of your heart, just to be sure everything is ok!", then I about panicked. That day it was 149/90 and I was totally relaxed, or so I thought. The echocardiogram came back fine, so thankfully, it isn't my heart, we do have heart problems in my family. We think it is probably stress related, between health and work issues and for now, no meds, which I do much prefer.
You may want to change my vote though!!!!!

Deb We urge all doctors to take time to listen to your patients.. don't "isolate" symptoms but look at the whole spectrum. If a patient tells you s/he feels as if s/he's falling apart and "nothing seems to be working properly", chances are s/he's right! |

My BP now goes up, when I drink alcohol.
My PN started with alcohol as one of the contributing factors. I've always had a high normal BP reading, so it doesn't take much to tip the scales over to hypertension. I was at 130/86 or so- normally. then I went to 146/92-94-96 and was put on BP meds. On meds it is now 130/72
