Default Cymbalta, Does It Help You?

My doctor is weaning me off Neurontin and tapering me up on Cymbalta. So far, I notice no difference in pain levels. Has anyone else taken or are taking Cymbalta? How did it work for you?

Cymbalta appears to work well for lots of folks, but it did make me extremely tired. Driving and falling asleep. Not good... Mere

Hi
I was on a low dose for a long time, and have recently increased it. It does help me to some extent. I can function, stay awake, etc. As long as I can move, I'd say it helps. But there are days when the only thing to do is stay in bed, with Vicoden, my TENS, and be still.

Hey. How are you "aunt sue"? I am on Cymbalta 120. I worked my way up to that dose. WHen I started on this med I was so nausea I would be in the bathroom of fear of throwing up. My pain doc siad give it 2 weeks even if you throw up and it should pass. It did. I took it with dinner at the start to help with the nausea. I don't know what has helped with my pain. I am thinking not so much the cymbalta but more then neurontin cause I have made progress since being on neurontin.

I've been on Cymbalta 90mg/day for a few weeks. I'm not sure if it's helping or not. Sometimes it seems so and then I have a bad day that makes me doubt. I need to put a daily pain rating on a calandar I guess. But I haven't really noticed any side effects. I thought at first that it upset my stomach but not now. Sorry this isn't really helpful.

I gave Cymbalta a one month try-out.
Started at 30mg for 2 wks, and then 60mg for 2 weeks.
Nada! Did nothing for PN pain.
Did make me wake up a bit more cheerful in the a.m.
(anti-depressant category), but didn't make a dent in pain levels.

I take Cymbalta 60 mg once per day. It does help with my pain, but helps along with the Lyrica I take. I took it with Neurontin for a few years and in combination it helped as well. I almost think that Cymbalta is an add on drug for most people.

Hi
Well, I mis-spoke. After 3 weeks of the higher dose, I started having the craziest dreams, waking up sweating. So, I went without any for 2 days. BIG mistake. I hurt so bad I had to leave work, crying. Wasn't pretty. So back to the lower dose for me, a little pain, and a visit to the pain doc soon to see what else I can try. I don't know if SCS is for me, but I'd like to try. I had 8 syringes of Botox 3 weeks ago, and it really didn't do anything, helpful or not this time.

Hello,
I tried it for 30 days (free trial) a few years ago and didn't notice any difference. I have found from reading various forums that the female gender give it a better rating. As of Dec 1st I weaned off of Lyrica and notice an overall better feeling with the pain level staying about the same. I still take Methadone 10mg twice a day and am thinking of going back to Tramadol. Constipation has become a major issue over the past 6 months. Wishing all the very best and looking forward to my little friends the hummingbirds.
