For intances you wait 20 years for your nerves to regrow after the cirugy
This is circumstantial, you really need to ask your doctor these questions as we can't assess your case. You said your biopsy was normal so there shouldn't be much of a problem with your peripheral nerves, you need to start looking in the spine. You need to have an SSEP test on your legs and arms, it tests the amount of time it takes for a signal to get from the fingers to the brain. Try an MRI of the rest of the spine as well.

Filipe, the surgery I had was EXTENSIVE with cutting the whole top of my foot, and digging around the tendons to get the roots of the tumor. You cannot compare that injury to yours. However, it does illustrate that the nerves regrew with time, after all that trauma. That is why I use this example, because as extreme as it is, it illustrates that peripheral nerves grow back. Yours are not SEVERED...just giving confusing signals.
So they may be faster in returning to normal.

I think at this point you should look at topical application of medications and use ICE treatments to calm the nerves down.
I'd apply ICE to your back/shoulder area for 20 minutes twice a day. Do not apply to bare skin. Use an ice pack covered with a towel of some kind or cloth.
Patches include Salonpas (no RX required) or Lidoderm (from a doctor).

You do not say what you are doing for your injury. What are you taking now.. supplements and medicines? Do things like ibuprofen or naproxen help? If so that points to inflammation being present.

Dear friend,

I'm taking Antidepressive trycicle, and Anxiety pills (Two). Also take a lot of fish oil (Omega 3, mainly EPA) and GingkoBiloba, And B12. Is there any natural suplement to help nerves regrow?

Still I don't understand, if this is true:

http://www.promega.com/catalog/catal...roductleaf_311

Why don't they sell a drug that use Neurotrophin NT3. Why is it taking so long . Sometimes I think they want this to be chronic so they make more money, with lyrica and so on.

Okay, those supplements look like a good start.

Here is a link to a drug called Neurotropin (used in Japan for shingles pain) being trialed at NIH in US.
http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00006289

and
http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/j...TRY=1&SRETRY=0

I am unsure that Neurotropin from Japan is the SAME as Neurotrophin-3. I think they are different. Neurotrophin-3 is a protein growth factor.

NeurotroPIN is a polysaccaride (complex sugar molecule) found in the skin of rabbits infected with herpes zoster virus--that causes chickenpox and shingles in humans.
They are different, but are spelled in closely so can be confused with each other.

Here is the Wiki for NeurotropHin-3...which is a biological and cannot be given by mouth.

Hi again,

From what I said I was taking, don't you think it is odd that they (the medicine) seemed to ease my pain? Maybe if I wasn't getting better the pain wouldn't ease with what I'm taking. I'm getting confident that I'm geting better... maybe my nerves are slowly combing back to normal again. What you think?

Amitriptyline is now known to enhance peripheral nerve growth, so yes, at least that one is working for you. It also works in the brain to make the pain less noticable.

The vitamins take a while to get going, but they do work too.

You just have to be patient, and try not to focus on the discomfort. Try in bed to divert your attention to some other thoughts, and you'll notice you won't be noticing the pain so much. You do notice that when you are mentally occupied, you don't feel the pain as much? You can enhance this with autohypnosis too when going to bed. I learned this a long time ago and it has served me well over the years.

There are books on this and you can visit a psychologist who does this and he/she can teach it to you.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-hypnosis

It really works and is valuable for many things other than pain too.

Ups!! Now I don't know if the antidepressive is acting as a pain killer or a nerve regrow. One of them is making me feel better.

hmmmm!!! But I'm not taking Amitriptyline. Maybe I should change to Tryptizol, or other? To help regrow my nerves. I'm gonna talk to my neurologist. What antidepressive are you taking?

By the way, I'm very affraid of doing a biopsy. I thought of making a Laser Evoked Potentials exam first. They are both for small fiber Neuropathies. Do you know if LEPs is painful? What kind of stimulus do they use?

Default Small nerve fibers that lead back to the spine--

--can regenerate if the cell bodies they grow from, most of which are located in the dorsal root sensory ganglia, are not damaged.
