Hey Bob

Now we are adding light at both ends of the day.

In my location, we begin adding light at BOTH ends on Jan. 8th, however, we started getting more light on one end of the day on Dec. 22nd. Dawn and Dusk just move around a bit between Dec. 6th and Jan. 8th.

It still isn't light here when we go to work, but it is getting there.

On June 21st, the sunrise will be at 5:18am and sunset at 8:41pm, however one must consider that we go to daylight savings time....so times are skewed for that, but total light hours are not. On June 22, we lose a second of daylight.

Even more fun to study are the crossquarter days which used to be celebrations in ancient cultures...one is coming up soon. Imbolc on Feb 3rd is half way to Spring, then Beltaine, May 5th, half way to the first day of Summer, Lughnasad August 7th, half way to the Autumnal Equinox and then Samhain, Nov. 7th which we know as Halloween. I love archeoastronomy...kind of a fun field. Looks like even the ancients struggled with light and the passage of time. They got to boogie on more days tho. Crossquarters, Equinox, and Solstices. I think a week off per month would be reasonable holiday time for us.

Like I said, I have more time on my hands than is reasonable.
