Thanks for the reply guys, its the neurontin brand name. It also makes me very shaky (tremors) and get loss of balance but the swelling and joint pain is unbearable. I had to take steroids to bring the swelling down. Will lyrica cause the same problems? have tried nortripolyne with success but its yuky but .may have to go back.

p.s I did try nerontin small dose 300g 3x per day a while back with much less problem but gave up because I dont like drugs but the burning getting worse. maybe as Im sensitive to drugs I shouldn't have taken the 600mg in one hit ( plan was 1200mg per day)

back to the drawing board

I have just started taking neurontin 600mg a day as well as 60mg of cymbalta, as yet I have had no side effect to speak of only an upset tummy on the first day other wise everything seems ok. My leg pain that I have spoken about on other posts seems to have reduced and I am sleeping better now. I am in a little more pain than usual but that is due to doing to much this weekend so I will be spending the next few days doing as little as I can.

Hoping for less pain for everyone

Lesley

well I had to quit. Both neurontin and lyrica provide great burning relief
The pain in my ankle and knee joints is not tolerable and walking is nearly impossible due to broken bone type pain. The swelling is only mild but it affects the tendons around my ankles severely sort of a crushing pain when walking (hobbling) Does this type of side effect (joint pain) disappear with time? its disappointing to have relief only to have the source cause another symptom just a s bad

What now ? i guess maybe nortriptoylne is worth a try

hmmm now you got me wondering, I have been on neurontin for few years for nerve pain... and I do have muscle pain around ankles and feet that make it feel as if something might break. but doctor knows this and has not related it to a side effect... actually always thought the feel are spasm tightness like my other parts of body... hmmmmm

good luck with what you try next... neurontin has saved my face and body lots of nerve pain.. still feel the numbness but not the tingling pain I lived with for years... hugs, sarah

Thanks Sarah
Just woke up ( In Thailand). An hour into trying to sleep last night the burning got intolerable. Turns out my pain threshold diminished whilst on the meds.
so whilst sucking my thumb lying in the fetal position , I remembered my doc here subscribed celebrex for arthritic type pain. So I popped 200mg along with 75mg lyrica and slept like a baby and NO joint pain today lets see how it goes in the next few weeks but this is good news
