Mel,

BTW, your muffins would be a perfect way to infuse MJ (liberally sprinkle it in like basil or parsley) at one of those gatherings.:p:winky:

*** The better way is to create canna-butter which you then use in baking. You have to be careful with other people's baked goods, though, because the strength can be quite high... so to speak.

Hope you are all enjoying your Spring. We have been having a beautiful one in the mid-Atlantic.

*** Heard a rumor strawberries were in at the farmers' market. Yes! Also some dried prunes. I want to switch off of pills -- but worry about eating too much of the natural stuff...

OK lots of opinions, many good comments and getting off on tangents...which is good?

Mere, as for meds and other stuffs resulting in less 'control'? I guess I'd check out the 'gastro' forums? Because they are likely to suffer one or the other in extremes. Diet I believe is key to keeping some 'surprises' to a lower key degree.
Bob your astuteness is on target as always.
Cowboy? Love your attitude! For Me? Lately? A pod from the salad bar, daily of fruit, is helping keep things going well...fiber and other things wise?
Cy? Last year, when I was in rehab? I took my 'cereal' seriously[fresh ANYTHING was non-existent!]... and I was on mondo pain meds to boot! It was the day before I was 'discharged'? That the river rocks moved down the mountain stream! To this day, I get arm goosebumps when things evolve out as they should! It gets dull at times? But is a necessary thing to do to keep the whole happy?
The 'issue' I'd alluded to at first? Was possible 'diverticulitis' {it was to be confirmed? But I went into the hospital w/broken leg instead}, Most likely caused by either the onset of my immune neuropathy [was often cited as a symptom, in the past, less so now, for some unknown reason?] and having been on those dratted pain-killers that put a plug into your gut w/no guidance as to how to compensate for the s/e's Some OTC or some specialty meds can help? But not before some damage mite be done! So WARNING?
Melody? Maybe you should have Alan checked out for this Diverticulitis? It's usually painful, for me not tho... At the basics tho, it usually entails a colonoscopy. Most folks don't "volunteer" for that one tho... Can't imagine why? Been there done that... Mostly tho? Docs don't THINK to take pre-emptive tactics before they occur. But then....they treat ONE problem, not the consequences. Short thinking in some circles IMHO?
I do not wish nor care to eat 'ultra grain bars' to get and keep my life going! THere must be simpler ways, and I know Mrs D has many good options... Mrs D? Can/Could you speak up to this 'issue'? Please? -- j
PS who'd a thot this could be such an important yet pertinent issue? For soo many? DOCS take NOTE! PLEASE!!!!!!

From my point of view, you've led a pretty sheltered life, when it comes to 'field' experience with recreational drugs.:confused:

My girlfriend (in the 60's) had a 'killer' recipe for double chocolate fudge
pot brownies.:D
So delicious you could keep on munching them all night with milk, coffee, or tea- except that just one was enough to get you pretty darn high for an entire evening.

Bob:

I was raised in parochial school by nuns.

There was no RECREATIONAL ANYTHING.

"Melody? Maybe you should have Alan checked out for this Diverticulitis?"

Alan, during his last colonoscopy, was told he had diverticulitis and not to eat anything with seeds. He has NEVER had any kind of problem with this disorder. His stomach is fine. And he's back to normal.

He has bad PN days but I asked him "do you ever want to go back on pain meds?" His answer is always the same: 'Not if you paid me'.

He had a hard time way back when, with the consipation and then with getting off of the fentanyl. He had to go into rehab and after one day, when they could not find any drugs in his system (he walked in wearing a fentanyl pain patch), and he had to kick it all by himself. Took 5 days. Like a really really bad flu. He says he never wants to go through that again.

The reason they couldn't find any drugs in his system (he was told this, I have no idea if this is true), is that they need a special test to test for fentanyl. They just tested for pot and coke, etc.

He tried to explain that he walked in wearing the patch, they knew he had it on, but the stupid people who ran the rehab (out of the hospital), well, something to do with his insurance, I don't know.

But that was 8 years ago, and Dr. Theirl got him to tritate down from the 125 every two days. That's right EVERY TWO DAYS. Not 3 days like most people. And vicodin for breakthrough pain.

I'll never forget that time in his life. He says it was like a miracle the first time he put that patch on. All the pain left. But then he had to keep increasing it and when he hit 125, the doctor told him. "we can't go any higher". So we found Dr. Theirl and he did his thing, and the rest is history.

Alan manages with massage and his vibrating thing that he puts on his thigh and the blood goes down into his feet.

He does as best he can.

R.S. cowboy, lots of nice berries available right now. We have a strawberry farm close by where you pick them yourself. They use biologicals (spiders) for pest control which, I think, is pretty cool. You just have to pick around the spiders...

I am trying to picture myself picking berries AROUND SPIDERS.

I would drop dead, that I can assure you.

I don't like bugs in any way shape or form.

If I see an ant in my apartment, I go nuts. I use one of those chemical free, ORANGE GUARD sprays that gives off a nice orange oil smell to it. It's supposed to keep the ants away.

When I don't use the Orange guard, I use ant bait traps.

I DON'T LIKE BUGS.

And you actually pick berries and brush away spiders?

You are one brave cookie.

MelodyL, You sound like my neighbor, Joyce. She hates spiders and bugs. Every couple of weeks or so, I see the exterminator truck go up the hill to her house...

I am not too crazy about spiders either, but I sure like berries :winky:

Spideys eat the bugs, including roaches - they keep the bug population under control.
Where there are spiders, you won't be overrun with other tyes of bugs.
