Wondering if anyone has tried OSR #1. It is a fat soluble antioxidant that raises levels of glutathione and is used for detoxification. It is supposed to be better and safer than EDTA because it doesn't deplete levels of glutathione while it works to expel toxins and fight free radicals. It also is able to penetrate cell walls and scavenge free radicals within cells.
It is kind of expensive at $60, but it wouldn't be something you would use all the time. In fact I would want to try it for a month or 2(if I can tolerate it-big IF) and then drop it. Anyway I have some on the way and will update all of any benefit. Here is the link to the company. https://www.ctiscience.com/CTIScience/

I had not heard of this substance, so I just took a quick look around.
This is what I found: http://neurodiversity.com/weblog/article/168 I think if you are interested in the data about glutathione, the most common way to increase this with supplements is to use NAC..n-acetyl cysteine. This is the way the liver gets supported when people OD on tylenol --because glutathione production in the liver halts when tylenol poisons the liver. I'd try this first. I am not really sure about this OSR#1...it seems fringey to me at best at this moment. Targeting heavy metals, and the mercury specifically. Now if you suspect you were exposed to heavy metals, I'd get that tested for first. A good hair analysis, plus a good blood level test. Arsenic, thallium and mercury can be culprits in PN. Arsenic from ant killers, or military base exposure or heavy exposure to pressure treated wood or smoke from burning that, or tainted well water, or thallium from ant killers, or mercury from overconsumption of tainted fish, or many vaccine injections with mercury in them (like going overseas and getting a whopping number of vaccines all at once). (also cadmium, but I have less exposure to articles about this metal). I am having some doubts about your OSR#1 for now, because of the way it was brought to market. I couldn't find any PubMed articles on it either. So try the NAC to start. I think that would be your first step. I am conservative, and think we should approach this with tried and true modalities first. ![]()

I had already actually tried NAC and do take it a couple times a week as well as R-ALA. R-ALA gives me a metal-pull like feeling-hard to describe but it can put me out of commission to where it is hard to think(feel like moving sitting still). My mother thinks might of had some pesiticide exposure as a kid or something. I smoked for 19 years so Cadmium may be in there. I have been around pressure treated wood and smoke so Arsenic is a suspect. I had a hair analysis last fall and it said Aluminum was kinda high. I cut out all aluminum- salt, coke cans, pots and pans, processed cheese(mostly) and such. I have had bad stomach turning reactions to RAID(for wasps)-once used on bedroom ceiling to kill wasp. Then a flea bomb(contained permethrin) I set off put me out and set off the nerves. In addition when was younger and treated for lice -the permethrin cream they used evoked nerve problems. I see where the doubts are coming from as I just read an article about that. The inventor has not answered a bunch of questions asked about it. On the flipside I am seeing positive testimonials for autistic children and others. Not to mention it is being promoted as a safe alternative to other forms of chelation. The biggest selling point I am hearing is that doesn't just pull stuff out into the bloodstream and recirculate, but expels pretty effectively. Oops. I already ordered it so I can't take it back. I will do more research before popping the first capsule, but Dr.s and Dentists are currently using this and alternative practitioners as well. I spoke with the woman(Dr.s office) selling and she told me they have had positive reports so far and no reactions.

Well, just keep us up to date.
I see conficts in your reasoning...is it heavy metals, or pesticides?. NAC twice a WEEK? not enough Can't have it both ways, most of the time. But we are here for information, so do keep us up to date with your experiment. One never knows what will help.

![]() Yeah I take Milk Thistle and Selenium both of which provide a glutathione boost. I reserve NAC for sinus infections, virus and flu. I feel things can lose their effectiveness if I take them all the time. Plus there is some lung or COPD problems it can cause with people and I have a left lung issue that gets pretty bad in the summer. Part of my detox regimen consists of a couple drops Fulvic Acid in a glass of Wheatgrass juice a couple times a weak followed by NAC to help the bad stuff exit. I always seem to get that same pulling feeling and then after a couple hours it goes away. Chlorophyll does this to me as well. All these things including ALA can give me these symptoms and breathing problems with my left lung. There are people on other forums who take ALA before every meal and then throw on NAC and other antioxidants for extra protection when eating unhealthy food. For the extra glutathione detox effects. Likewise there are people who take it before drinking with other things to reduce hangover. Its a pretty versatile supplement, depending on what your goals are. Overall, I think all these things are good but maybe not strong enough and that is my reasoning for trying OSR.

Pesticide exposure is fairly widespread today, and there are many sites on Google with simple searches.
Our Parkinson's forum often discusses pesticides, and there have been links to this disease and pesticides for a long time. Recently ADHD has been linked to pesticide residues in the blood. Some pesticides appear to have a delayed onset for nerve damage, and this makes it more difficult to connect the use of the pesticide with the onset of nerve dysfunctions. Here is one disturbing article I found this morning: ![]() http://www.chem-tox.com/chlordane/

As I was reading thru these posts, my radar went up because, looking back, I've probably inadvertently been exposed to many of these potential culprits....i had NO idea about the smoke from burning pre-treated wood....We have a large 'pit' in our pasture and burned aLOT of stuff, not to mention the pesticide and weed-killing agents (musk thistle, not the 'good' weed
![]() Despite taking (what I thought to be) safety measures, I still suspect that any of these could have contributed to my PN....... I've had a few toxidity blood tests done, but I'd probably go bankrupt B4 actually pinning it down. So, rather than spending so much time trying to rule out these culprits (and by now 5 or more yrs have passed since exposure).... is there any certain supplement or 'something' to take that would benefit these age-old toxidities, without knowing for sure if they even had caused any damage? I've seen things like "Milk Thistle" and "Broccomax" and others mentioned, but it also seems that taking one certain supplement can hinder another..... ? am i making sense ? To be quite frank, I haven't done much research on the toxidity issue and I'm sure what I'm trying to ask probably has the answer right under my nose, so forgive me if I'm asking an obviously 'stupid' question ![]() In the meantime, should I just continue taking the recommended PN supplements?............ ![]() I am very convinced that the supplements i DO take have helped, but I haven't been taking them with toxidity issues in mind. Moreso for dietary and physical damage (injuries). So.....am I better off leaving well enough alone, ? Or if I venture off into what this thread is talking about, maybe I can get even MORE relief (assuming that I've just been enlightened to the fact that neurotoxins may have been part of my culprit all along).... |

Rrae-
I am still learning new stuff all the time as well. I am going to try and be here regular as much as possible and soak up more info. As far as my supplements go I do the same for Neuropathy. But I feel there needs to be more of an emphasis on detoxifying the body as I have been around alot junk. We are in the same boat as far not wanting to go bankrupt with the doctors. If you are interested in pursuing something similar, research each thing individually and how it interacts with others you are taking. Simple Google searches for things like Milk Thistle, Selenium, Wheatgrass, Chlorella, Chlorophyll, Fulvic Acid should give you a wealth of information on detoxification They also have detox packages you can take and such at your health store. If you have more specific questions, I would be happy to answer from what I know or point you somewhere that does.

Having a blood screen for heavy metals, is really the best way to go. Some but not all respond to chelation therapy.
The pesticide testing would be more expensive, I think. Arsenic is the most common heavy metal in rural areas(and wells). But mercury is also common in foods and fish, and some hobbies.
