It has been proven to dilate veins therefore lowering BP. Your heart rate increases to compensate (usually not an issue unless a brisk walk puts your heart at risk). That is one area that is absolutely accepted by the medical community. I did way too much research...

But if you say it makes your autonomic dysfunction worse, I'm not screwing around with that. I'll wait till I see the neuro.

Thank you so much for sharing that.

Default Prudence in all medications, is my motto?

WHY? Because of all the good [as mmj] or bad [as in steroidal or epiliptic therapies] ANDTHAT IS ONE BIG UNIVERSE!
Thing is, first? GET A FRUITCAKE DIAGNOSIS! THEN get meds...do trial and error. and get FUNCTIONING! again.
HONESTLY! PN HURTS! A LOT! A HEAP Why not throw yourself into a vat of burning asphalt ? Yet, 99% of US do not? [Tho some seem to claim they have] And we get by. And we learn about what we HAVE and how to live with it....w/or w/o meds.
To be frank? You have to really get in tune and HONEST with yourself, before you go further? NOW is the time to do it, when being tested. Learn about the possibilities? And also the alternatives.
BTW? Don't ya know it takes 6 weeks to 5 months to get an appt w/a good NEURO? Get reading on prior posts here and also the 'stickies' at the top of the forum.
Come down to earth and learn reading past posts? About how to get diagnosed and treated! Don't expect coddling here? Read about Cycleops from the get go? And don't forget I always walk with a solid wood cane! - j
I am sorry I seem so crass? But, this crud at times IS CRASS! And, I've less patience that I've had in the past.
I truly would like you to be back, with some more coherent backgrounds and such? And I do think not only I but others would help you immensely. Maybe it was the MJ? - j

*** I have revamped my entire diet and supplements since beginning this journey. I am taking MUCH better care of my body just so I will have more chances to hike in the Columbia Gorge with my wife during the rest of my years. I'm also providing some up-close support work for my elderly parents who struggle with a host of other physical problems. I cannot imagine what it would be like with PN, so I do what I can to change my relationship to my body.

*** Honesty. No more self-deceptive rationalization "I'll get in shape tomorrow"; "I'm in a hurry, one Big Mac can't hurt."

No, I had no idea it takes that long. Thanks for letting me know.

And where do I get a fruitcake diagnosis? Is that like a prize you get for seeing the doctor?

"Yes you do in fact have PN, congratulations! And here's your complementary fruitcake, have a nice day."

I guess I kind of lucked out though. When to urgent care yesterday for really bad inflammation (felt like I was being a big baby), they sent me to the ER. ER doc freaks out, consults a neuro, gets me an appointment for Monday

I'm so glad you got your neuro appointment bumped up. I hope you'll let us know how it went. I'm sorry you're in so much discomfort, and I appreciate your humorous attitude. I hope you're getting some answers.

After three years and getting my neuro meds bumped up to where I can't stand the side effects (and I still have plenty of pain anyway), I've now just spoken with my neurologist about a medical MJ card. He said he'll sign for it, and I shouldn't pay one of the clinics the 300 bucks they charge, so I'm going to take him the papers tomorrow.

Even though I grew up and went to college in California, I've never used cannabis (and I'm a bit nervous about it). You characterized rightly the way one side worships and the other side demonizes the drug, and there's not much useful information in-between. Your inquiry, though, brought a little useful information in this thread. I'll watch my BP if I go this route.

Interesting info is coming out about CBD -- a canniboid that seems to be under-produced by the MJ's that are bred to produce large amounts of THC. CBD isn't psychoactive, or if it is, it tends to counteract THC, and it has anti-cancer, immune-support, and even neuro-protective properties. More info at the washington post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...103231_pf.html).

Good luck on your journey.
