Okay, here's our problem. Alan's former Chiropractic Neurologist, Dr. Theirl is no longer practicing in NYC. He used a G5 machine on Alan. To say that it helped with his PN is putting it mildly.
Here's what a G5 machine is. http://g5.com/ Now this website is not for people like us, I gather it's for chiros, and physical therapists, etc. to buy this machine. What I need to find is a Physical Therapist in Brooklyn, NY 11204 (or anyplace else in Brooklyn, for that matter), who uses a G5 machine. I have begun called the various physical therapists by us, but so far, NO ONE HAS EVEN HEARD OF A G5 machine. How can I narrow this search down. I've tried typing in: "Where can I find a physcal therapist who uses a G5 machine in 11204" but I just get names of Physical Therapists. Can anyone suggest a better way to do this? Thanks much Melody P.S. Oh, in case you are wondering why Alan doesn't want to use a chiropractor, etc, I asked him, and he said "when Dr. Theirl was leaving NYC, he told me "Alan, you need to find a physical therapist who will give you the time you need with this machine". "A chiropractor won't give you the necessary time". Dr. Theirl gave Alan a lot of time on this G5 thing. Alan would come home like a new man. So any help would be appreciated.

I thought it would be like a IF stim or something.
those products look to be mostly fancy massage "'helpers" ![]() ![]() I don't think he would need that exact machine being used by a PT - it sounds like it is more to help the PT person not get overworked or strained. Does he have ins coverage for a good PT /massage? There are a couple types of electric stim machines - the IF stim can be set to do almost the same thing just by using small amounts of electricity to the muscles. The muscles do the work and the PT or DC just places the pads on the pt and monitors the settings. making adjustment to them if needed. Many PT places use the IF stim machines - you might ask about those and he could try it to see if it does a similar benefit for him.

Look in your Yellow pages for rehabilitation places with licensed
therapists. Then call the ones closest to you, and ask. Or call your local hospital, and get the #s to the orthos, and physiatrists, and call them and ask who they use for therapy, and if they know this machine is used. I agree with Jo*mar that IFc can really help too. But most places have that. Once you find the place, you'll need a Doctor's referral order in order for your insurance to pick up the costs. Call before going to see if your insurance is taken by that place you choose. I can't think of an easy way to do this. Unless you can get the company of G5 to tell you who they sell to. But they may not do this.

GUESS WHO JUST CALLED MY HOUSE? The G5 machine company rep. (I had emailed them on their contact form, telling them about my quest to find a PT who uses a G5 machine.) Nice girl. I told her about the IF stim and she said "oh no, the G5 is NOTHING like that, it's a completely different thing. I knew this because I was with Alan when he got some of the treatments from Dr. Theirl. Alan has also received electrical stim from various PT's and it did NOTHING for him. The only thing that has worked is when Alan used to go 3 times a week to Dr. Theirl, and when he walked into that front door of my house, he would go "oh my god, I feel like a new person". But thank you Jo-mar for the suggestion. Much appreciated. I spoke to the G5 rep and she has been trying to find Alan a PT near us who uses a G5. Imagine that, she is going out of her way and she telephoned us. I said "my goodness, you could have emailed me, and she said "Nah, that's too impersonal". She said that she has notified various companies who have bought the G5 and she is trying to locate a rehab person near us. She found one guy in Queens (but we don't live near Queens), and the guy didn't speak English anyway. But isn't it cool? This is like an adventure. FINDING ALAN A PT WHO HAS A G5 machine!!!! My next thing will be to do what Mrs. D. suggests. Will update. We just might help Alan yet. Oh, and this SO POINTS TO HIS NEUROPATHY STEMMING FROM HIS BACK, I JUST CAN'T TELL YOU. He's getting pinched SOMEWHERE from the mid section down. No one has found it on an x-ray or mri or anything. And yes, he has autoimmune stuff going on (his psoriasis and exema is flaring BIG TIME), but I got that covered with Palmers Cocoa butter with vitamin E. You should see the difference on the plaque that was behind his ears and under his eyes. ALL GONE. I grease him up before he goes to bed. He runs away from me. lol Melody
