A great big thanks to all who contributed to this discussion. Here I thought it was just age (72) getting to my fuzzy brain. I never related the medication to a problem with memory loss. WHEW ! ! ! Thanks again

Electron I have had both medications and it is the Gabapentin.
I am at a very dose 4800mg and have constant problems with my attention span and short term memory. I have read it is one of the side affects of using Gabapentin. |

they seem to be 'stir fried' from thoughts in to thoughts out!
I was that way on Gabapentin/neurontin? I kept note pads around at every stopping point so I could keep my 'thought's' written! Was a walking zombie while on it. Got hallucinations on higher doses too. Thank goodness new doc & new meds got my brain back! There are LOTS of different meds that work for neuropathies. Some work for some? Others work for others. We are not manufactured out of any cookie-cutter process? We are HUMAN. With all the quirks and foibles that come with US being US! I've currently got about 20+ steno pads to go thru and ditch the useless and keep the good parts? Then put them 'together' somehow? I've been staring at that stack for 3+ months and shudder each time I look at it! Reactions to meds [including memory isssues] ARE outlined in any med's 'prescribing information'....and it's not the kind the pharmacy gives you! Read them and memorize them [if you can]! Each one! Sometimes some things you take can't/shouldn't be taken together to work well? OR simply don't work well together at all! Sometimes even calcium supplements and some of the meds we are prescribed should NOT be taken in one gulp in the morning....rather hours apart. Then? Things can get interesting! ![]() ![]() |
