Crazy

Frankly, i don't know how you DO this!
....with the baby and all.
Good Lord.
Well, for what it's worth, you're doing a fantastic job

As long as you continue seeing the little one sitting there smiling at you, or even waking in the middle of the nite, you'll know that things are 'ok'.....or 'normal' (does that word even exist in your house?)........

If, however, you wake up one of these days to find 3 chickens laying eggs in the baby crib and see the youngster proudly perched upon the roosting pole,....at that point you maybe wanna re-assess your situation.

.................

I hope you're not talking about me...we have been on the same side of issues several times here. And I've always liked you. You just (inadvertently) touched a nerve and I was trying to tell you that it hurt. I don't know what else to say to make up.

Aside: is it possible that posts aren't appearing in the order they were sent? The same thing happened to me that happened to dany--posts showed up that weren't there before.

JoanB, I truly feel for you....YOU are not my dear SIL. You have invested a lot of time and energy in a career, one that you should NOT have lost. It is precisely for people like you, that I believe social benefits SHOULD exist. It would be nice if they existed for me to, but due to some stupid accounting mistakes, they don't....oh well. I wonder if in your situation, disability would not be the way to go?? It may be worth a try.

My schtick on here is humor....there is a reason for that. My disease is not curable.....it is getting pretty nasty....it's autonomic, autoimmune, and lately my kidneys are malfunctioning, and as mentioned in another recent thread, I do think that it can cause a person's demise....I can't delude myself that much will help, other than the love of my family and friends....and well timed pain meds that take the edge off. I hope I keel over in the cornfield of a sudden arrhythmia. Then again, I am cantankerous enough to last another decade, who knows?

MY best medicine is humor. Sometimes humor can run the edge of offensive....I try not to do that, but, I have paid big bucks to see people on stage who do exactly that....and now and then, my ethnicity, my religion or lack there of, or race, or beliefs or whatever, are the topic of a one liner....it happens. I can either laugh it off, or take it personally....I have done both.

I can see how you would be sensitive to my line.....I likely would be too if I were you....but, to be honest, I have come to expect if something can go wrong, it will, twice or thrice over. I DID unfairly lose my job....so I do understand. After a substantial number of applications for new positions were turned down...(who wants an over 55, sick grandmother?) I just gave up that line of work and went for what was basic, what I had on hand....digging in dirt....and making stuff to wash off the dirt. I am NOT supporting myself on this, lol....

I am vastly sorry that I hurt you by my statement....I am the last person to see job seekers as lazy or unmotivated people sitting on benefits. Nope, I see this whole situation as very bleak. I am very concerned about our unemployed. I give food from my farm to any one who needs it, no questions asked. I have a self serve stand that says those in need can take what they need. I trust that is all they take.....and I know their dignity is at stake. That is not humorous.

(I grow pumpkins that I donate to Special Olympics too....they sell them and keep the profit. (It's a far cry from nursing, but, it my line of work has some meek rewards.)

The great majority of people on unemployment are deserving individuals....There is likely .001% that scam the system....just like those who scam Medicare, and no, I don't think we should shuck Medicare....or Medicaid...I think it should cover EVERYBODY!! (incoming---I am running for cover) I even give my SIL credit for coming to his MIL for help....THAT had to be rather 'tough'. It is just we have made it too comfortable here.

If one were to do a sitcom on a mother in law/son in law relationship.....my situation would provide a great deal of inspiration for script....that's all.

I have no answers for this disease. I have no answers for the economy. Yes, so much is so bleak, that if I sit and ponder only the bleakness of all of it, I would be so depressed as not to move off my couch. My cup would runneth over with grief.....so, I have found it is best to attempt to fill the pitcher with a few smiles and laughs.....better to drink in sweet laughter.....occassionally it is in bad taste. Sorry.

Oh my gosh....I just saw that chicken and worm thing....oh that makes me laugh. One of my chickens had a worm in her beak...poor thing got chased all over the place by the whole flock...and chickens run like they have a diaper on....it's hysterical.

She did get to eat her worm after 15 mintues of racing to save her prize....we were all laughed out!

My grandson is 5 1/2 months and he sits and crawls. Yesterday, I sat him in the grass near the coop and for 20 minutes we watched chickens....they are great entertainment. He actually watched them....I was amazed at his attention span.

Thanks for taking the time again, cy. I know you're an ally, and also that I'm hypersensitive about this particular thing. Guess you don't remember me...I didn't always have a photo and I wasn't posting for a little while, but we have exchanged silliness before. At any rate, I know that your humor is a way for you to cope. Good on ya for that.

Sorry that things are so hard for you and that your kids aren't making it any easier. You're a trooper and I've often admired your strength and courage.

As for me going on disability, I don't think I could make a case for it, nor do I deserve it. I'm a technical writer...if I can sit here now banging on the keyboard, there's no reason I can't do the same thing writing manuals. Except for the getting hired part.

Oh, and I do understand about the unfair job loss. Mine was similar, but I've been fortunate enough to receive UC benefits since they officially laid me off. I was about take a leave for a hip replacement after being out earlier for a TAH because of cancer. They let me go and kept the guy that they "brought on to help with the work load" while I was sick. It really stinks that you weren't able to collect benefits.

Anyway, glad we cleared that up.

Re chicken and worm: do you suppose that she burned off more calories running away than she got from the worm?

Default Oh, my goodness?

Gotta watch out for them there worms!

Kind of like 'checking the basement for pods'!

I hope all of you are either checking or have someone to check! Who knows these days? Science Fiction can become fact at times....
Could be worse tho... I count my blessings each and every day! - j
