Yes, there are ALL kinds of bugs these days......
On the bright side....I have a new bed coming for my ultra-small master suite....We got a new queen size storage bed with 12 drawers! It's Shaker style with a bookcase headboard, in white....nickel pulls AND, I will likely need an extension ladder to board the bed....All Aboard!! It comes on Saturday!! Now if only I could get some sleep. ![]() I think I will still keep my memory foam topper.

Well, yesterday was an adventure. My region got one storm after another. My poor chocolate lab is horribly afraid of storms and he shook all day. I tried to keep him sedated with his 'doggie xanax' inside a 'magic weiner' and it sort of worked.
My chickens wandered onto the neighbors field in full view and grabbing range of Mrs. Hawk and her offspring, and then the lightening started, and the tornado warnings started....cripes! ![]() Then after my Subaru round up, my power went out. My daughter, who works for a power company called and told me to call in my outage.....I balked, but then decided to do what she said....with one mistake....I asked dear son in law to do it. He called and listened to the first few lines. "Thank you for calling____Engeries. As of 7:15pm on July 22 we are experiencing widespread power outages......" Problem is this is where he hung up......sooo, four hours later, freezer contents starting to thaw, it's midnight, I can't warm a baby bottle, flush a toilet or run a fan in the heat. Hubby goes and trips the breaker just to make sure it isn't just us......hmmm....nothing. Hubby decides to call the outage report line.........Hubby hears the same prelude on the phone......'Thank you for calling_____Energies.......except HE doesn't hang up, he listens. The message goes onto state the counties with outages of which OURs is NOT one. So he goes to report the outage, and WE are the FIRST ones to report it.....good thing we sat on our tusches for 4 hours! It took 8 hours to get power back on and 4 of them were wasted. I'm glad I won't be in the car at 5am when hubby takes SIL to work.......... At 4am, the lights went back on. Well, the fur was flying last night....Hubby muttered under his breath until morning. I think he now has a concept of what I am dealing with. Any one EAST of me, this is coming your way....and more is coming my way today......fun in the heartland. Do call your power company! BTW, this weather is not good for neuropathy. It is hard to find pain pills by flashlight.

We had a long power failure last weekend. 95 degrees.
We did not open the freezer. I opened the frig once to take out critical food for the trip and put it in a ice cooler. When the power came back we checked the freezer and everything was still frozen including the ice. I did take this opportunity to clear out the frig of regular stuff. I think the longevity of the exp dates was shortened considerably. So it was a good excuse to clear it out before we leave on our long trip. It was getting low anyway. We went out at 3pm Sat and restored Sunday at around noon. It was brutal. We got a carry out Sat night and I had peanut butter for breakfast.

High heat on the East Coast today, 98 -heat index 105, isolated T-storms in the eve..
Tomorrow is supposed to be a record breaker of 102-104 with heat index between 110-115. Sunday down to 97. Leaving for a weekend visiting #3 son in the boondocks of Va. tonite. Hope its a bit cooler there, but its a bit south of us, so maybe it'll be hotter. I dunno. Glad for A/C in the car, tho. Hope the h/motel's got power for their A/C. Plan to spend as much time indoors in A/C as possible.

I had 5 inches of rain in my gauge. Mrsd. and Bob, this is coming your way....we still have 24 hours of additional 'trains' of rain....ugh, my aching joints. And no relief from the heat with this rain.....it is like a rain forest.
Next time we get a power outage....HUBBY calls. For a 60 year old guy, he amazes me lately....I have a whole new appreciation for this man who rises at 5am, drives SonIL to work, drives daughter to her sheltered workshop, then 60 miles to work and then reverses it at nite....and gets me the baby when he cries at nite....I think I am falling in love again, this time with an old codger. ![]()
