Default Exhaustion

I have been exhausted lately no matter how much sleep I get. I am still able to work so during the week I try and get 8 hours a night. On weekends I can get 12 or more and still feel exhausted. I'm not sure if it is related to the stress of not knowing what is going on with my body or just being in pain all the time.

I have had idopathic polyneuropathy for a little over 2 years, which is getting worse. It took the docs 16 months to come up with that Dx, which essentially means they don't know what is causing the pain. I went up to Johns Hopkins Neurology in Jan. '10 and they ran all sorts of tests so I know a lot of things that aren't causing it. I was told in Jan that sometimes we just don't know what causes these things and reminded of that in June when the latest results came back. My neurologist referred me to the pain management group at JH, which I go to in a week. The meds she had me on are no longer working.

Is anyone else having exhaustion issues?

Thumbs up

Is anyone else having exhaustion issues?

I will put my hand up for exhaustion - sometimes I come home at lunchtime and sleep for 30mins and then go back to work - I am lucky that I work 10mins from the house - this is the only way I can get through the day, my GP said it is the meds that are making me feel like this.
Good luck with the Pain Management, I felt this was the department that really understood me, the neurologist was useless.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'm glad it's not just me.

I think there is something to this and it has to do with hormonal function. More specifically, low testosterone/adrenal function.
I have suffered from low energy all the time and I just started on a herbal supplement regimen that is really starting to help. In fact, I feel like I did before this started. My sleep is improving, energy up/ strength up:

Jarrow Sensoril(boosts testosterone/adrenals/thyroid--reduces stress-enhances memory) 1x daily
Symbiotics Colostrum(boosts immune system/increases growth hormone/healing gi tract issues) 2 caps 2x daily
New ChapterWhole Foods Multivitamin(better absorbed than standard multi) -
