I go, "of course not". Then they start wheeling me down the corridor. A few minutes later, another person stops me (another clipboard too). and she looks me in the face and asks me "are you taking any drugs". (I now thought i was entering the twilight zone). I said 'no of course not". Then they wheeled me some more.

The doors open and there's a person standing there with yet another clipboard and before she opened her mouth, I started yelling "I AM NOT TAKING ANY DRUGS AND IF ANYBODY ASKS ME THIS DUMB QUESTION ONE MORE TIME, I'M JUMPING OFF THIS GOD-DAM# TABLE".

She just looked at me like I was nuts. Believe me, this actually happened.

Thankfully, they finally wheeled me into the operating room and did the surgery. Years later, all I can remember is being stopped and asked that stupid question over and over. And I mean OVER AND OVER.

And no, I never did drugs. I have no idea why they did this. I've had surgeries since and no one ever asked me this question at various points while I was being wheeled into surgery.

Oh, and this is funny. When the surgery is over, (I was awake for the whole thing), and they bandaged my knee, I'm in the recovery room and I'm to be transferred to another room. I am sitting up all bandaged and this 4 foot 11 little philipino nurse comes over to me and sweetly says "lean on me". I looked at her and said "YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING!!!!!". Now at the time I was a good 250 lbs. And I'm 5'7, SO THIS LITTLE BIT OF THING thinks I'm going to stand up and lean on her????.

I look at her and said "honey, go and get me a big guy". All of a sudden this 6 foot female nurse who weighed more than me, comes and picks me up off the gurney.

I tell you, I WAS IN THE TWILIGHT ZONE THAT DAY!!!
