Hello, everyone! I am new here and wanted to say that I have learned alot from your posts. Thank you for sharing!
I am 37 years old and am being treated for tingling, numbness and pain that started in my left leg and has since spread all over my body. The active place right now is my face & it's driving me CRAZY! I also have dizziness, frequent sudden urges to pee, tremors, and what I call "jumps" but I guess is spasticity. My right eye has been twitching since 10-15-10 and the center of my vision was blurry, but the peripheral vision was clear, and I have floaters. The twitching is better and my vision is all clear now, but still have the floaters. My neuro exam was normal. I have a VER and brain/spine MRI with & without contrast scheduled for December 7 in order to rule out or in MS. Several blood tests were ordered also. On 10-28-10, my B12 was 279 and since then I have had 6 injections. I have another one next week and we will retest then, too. I will see my neuro January 10 to go over all results. The wait for answers may drive me crazy, especially since the holidays are here. |

Hi I want to welcome you to the boards though sorry you are facing this. I am glad you have ore testing ordered and have started b12. You stated on 10-15 the eyes started but when did the other symptoms start? Did anything happen like an injury or accident? I have my condition in the legs but about 6 months after the dx of PN and RSD I developed major eye problems and severe eye pain. I also have eye floaters though even people without eye problems do I guess. Did they dialate your eyes just to make sure everything is ok? Have you had other block work done for auto immune and diabetes? I know holidays are ruff with this but I hope you can find times of joy and things to distract and lift your spirits. Trust me I know this is easier said then done but even small times of joy can really help a person get through this.

Hope you are seeing a qualified eye doc along with your neuro.
The Floaters should be addressed by him.

I agree with Nide.
There are autoimmune inflammatory problems that affect the eye this way. They can lead to damage of the retina, or detachment. https://health.google.com/health/ref/Uveitis My husband has a colleague at work who has this, and has to get steroid shots in her eye ( eeekkk...but she says it is not too bad really) to keep her inflammation down.) Also anyone with eye symptoms should get a B12 test done. Your report should show numbers at 400 or above. If it is lower, do not accept "normal" from your doctor, as the lab ranges are no longer accurate in US for this. Inflammation of the optic nerve may occur with low B12. This can become very damaging to vision so getting this test is important. While you are getting this done, ask for Vit D. too. We are seeing many posters on all the boards here with low D. This link has 2 medical videos on Vit D today: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread92116.html

Hi There,
Welcome and I am sorry you are going through this. I too am 37. I has sudden onset of burning tingling and muscle twitches all over my body in August. I've had every test imaginable so far with nothing as a diagnosis. I know how frustrating it can be. I hope that you will get a diagnosis soon. Learn as much as you can and be your own advocate. Don't be afraid to ask Dr.'s for tests you want. And don't be afraid to get second opinions either. Hang in there, you'll get good support here. |

--it definitely sounds like that B12 level is too low, and deficiency is one of those great mimickers, in that it can produce symptoms characteristic of many other disorders (including MS, by the way--there have even been reports of those with B12 deficiency showing up with MS-like plaques in brain and/or spinal cord on MRI, and it takes really savvy radiologists to distinguish their characterisitics).
