Default Invisalign Issues

They just posted an advisory on those plastic braces for teeth....mouth ulcers, burning tongue and swollen lips.

I wonder....I often wear a mouth splint made of hard plastic....hmmm. Must be the same material? I have mouth ulcers and burning tongue....then again, I have this issue whether the plastic is in or not.

I am one of these people who has a sip of wine and am drunk before I swallow it....I swear I metabolize my food before it hits my stomach. I am probably so darn full of BPA or whatever it is in this plastic....I was always leery of this, but thought I was being paranoid.

Geez, makes me feel even worse about my estrogen ring!!

Yes, it is possible there is outgassing of some compound from that bite device.

Seems there are endless poisons out there now.

Can we drink ANYthing bought in a grocery store safely? All come in plastic bottles.

Also the device may trap bacteria or viruses and hold them to the tissues, which normally would move the bacteria off. Mucus membranes need to breathe a certain way in order to work. Foreign bodies seem to generate disease. (remember toxic shock and certain types of tampons?)

The Doctors show on ABC just had a discussion last week on private female questions, and the OB/Gyn's had that advice and told it right on TV! Women should NOT wear underwear to bed! Should allow air to circulate "down there" to prevent infections!

The mouth is no different. Certainly a man made device in the mouth for HOURS was not what nature intended!

And, while I have your attention here Cyclelops, I'll add this to this thread. I've been doing some internet research and found this link to NAC and sjogren's....

It looks promising. But then perhaps you knew this already?

Thanks! I appreciate it. I will give some of your recommendations a try.

Yes, it really makes me wonder about all the foreign stuff we put in our bodies. I don't think I will ever opt for joint replacement....I just think it would be loads of trouble for me.

Right now I am feeling maybe 20% better than I have for years....doesn't sound like a lot, but, it is something.

Default Does this mean?

I a 'lady'? Should start growing hair on my chest or something?
By mouth splint? Do you mean a nite guard or something more substantial?
I wear a nite gard and am on my 3rd or 4th[?] and clean it in denture cleaner frequently. That plus the Biotene help a lot.

I agree with you tho? About plastics in general... I try to keep my food as simple as I can and my life as simple as I can. Tho, some conveniences are nice? I use them sparingly as I know they come with a cost.

OK every time we eat ANYTHING these days it's frought with dangers.... Hormones or not... steroids or not... Fungicides or not, anti-'bs or not... What keeps the 'cans' sterile? Maybe I don't wanna know about, but should? But...can we solve and save the world? NO. BUT? We can ask questions and pester them all to death! Before we die for sure.

!!!!'s We'll evolve and survive somehow. Hugs - j

I did a brief search on this topic and there are articles going back 2 to 3 years about some people reacting to the substance these braces are made of. So I guess it is not a "new" phenomenon and has always just been a side effect reported.
