Hello everyone,
Sensitive info here but hopefully you can help. About 8 months ago I sustained a sexual injury to my penis where I felt an extremely sharp pain at the base. I had been experiencing some loss of sensitivity leading up to this (possibly due to alcohol or a little to much masturbation) but after this injury I have now sustained about 60-70% loss of sensitivity. I am trying to abstain from all sex and masturbation and have been doing hot/cold wraps, b6, b12, sam-e, carnitine/ALA. I believe when symptoms first started to appear I didnt give things enough time to heal and most likely kept irritating the nerves. Just these past couple months have I started this regimen. So my question is after all this time and some repeated irritation of the nerves after injury, am I past the point of no return? Could I still have a chance to regenerate? Can nerves heal if not completely severed? Thanks in advance. |

Coincidentally, there's a fairly long discussion thread on something very similar in the Men's Health forum.
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread50665.html If you haven't seen a doctor about this, you should. Forget any embarrassment; they've heard it all - and a lot more/worse - before. Doc

Thanks smith. Have posted over at that link as well.
Well, since this forum seems to get more views, I have another quick question.. Was doing hot wraps last night and think maybe I might have gone too hot but since my sensitivity is down I didnt notice. I seem to be experiencing more numbness possibly from too much heat? Was pretty hot but not painful hot. No tissue damage just a little redness that went away, but can nerves be damaged that easily from just a small amount of heat? I mean i know I have endured much worse heat on other parts of my body but maybe the nerves are little more sensitive down there? Does there have to be actual tissue damage for heat to kill nerve endings? ![]() |

Logically... the male anatomy is OUTSIDE the body for a reason.
Heat will reduce sperm count, for example. I think you should stop fooling around with heat and/or cold or other manual tricks looking for solutions. You need to consult a urologist to find out how to treat yourself, and perhaps some psychological counseling to deal with your situation, and healing process.

I have seen 2 urologists, both which just prescribed me cialis for increasing blood flow and told me it may or may not heal. Not to much help really.
Im going to go back and see if I can order an MRI to check for any compressed/pinched nerves. I have read countless places from other people about using hot/cold wraps to invigorate or shock the nerves back into practice hence my decision to try. I am laying off now or if I do will just keep to in the shower. |

Hey guys, throughout this whole ordeal I have been noticing that when I do cardio and move around my legs while either swimming, running, or eliptical it seems to irritate the nerves.
I dont know if I could give up cardio though. Do you guys think it is actually hurting my healing? It just a somewhat strained prickly sensation I feel down there. I where extra support to ensure it doesnt flop around but just want to make sure Im not doing more damage/preventing healing. |
