After reading you note re: EMG being positive, I totally understand. I just had an EMG for the second time, first one was three yrs. ago and showed something abnormal, he retested last month and it was normal, and yes I was disappointed. I just want to know what type of neuropathy I have?? When I pressed him for a dx he said possibly small fiber, I am on Gabapentin 600 mg. 3x's a day. I called him yesterday because I have see little improvement, he added Nortripedine 25mg. and said it would take 4-6 wks. and if that still didn't help I could increase it to 50mg. Its such a waiting game at our expense and discomfort.
I was interested in your comment" pain up to your buttock". That's were may pain started. Please give me some detail.

Hi LucyLou - Sorry to hear about your neuropathy and buttock pain. My neuropathy actually started in my feet and has worked its way all the way up to my buttocks over the last 16 years. I also may have some scar tissue in my buttocks. I had an injury several years ago in which I backed into an industrial fan and got my butt terribly bruised. Not sure if that is playing a role but the physical therapist said I could have nerve entrapment due to scar tissue in the piriformis and glut meteus muscles. I think mine is a combo of actual nerve damage and soft tissue nerve entrapment. I am scared to have the EMG results, but also happy to finally have some diagnostic evidence.

I also have RSD and PN. The injury you stated made me think of RSD as also a dx for you. I have both. I could be so wrong but just a thought you may want to read up on. Hang in there and I hope you can get some proper treatment
