Default Down in the dumps

Hi, I had an appt with my neurologist this morning. Found out the insurance denied my IVIG Rx. I was hoping maybe they would help alleviate some of this pain.
The doctor was talking to me and I said I am sorry I am going to cry. He asked if there was something else I was depressed about and if I was still working. I siad no and yes. I was counting on getting the Rx. He is a great guy, I think my emotiional state just made him a little uncomfortable. He said he had a number to call for the ins company and would try to fight them.

Say some prayers. Just bad timing. The 1st year anniversary of my sisters death is Friday.

Just venting. Thanks, hopeful

Wink

Hold on, he may win for you. Many times the doctors do get the treatments approved.

Thanks everyone. A little update. My doctors office called and said he spoke with the insurance company and has to fax them a letter stating what his rationale is for me getting the IVIG. They said they may know by next week. Keep praying please. Thanks for letting me vent yesterday.

Hi hopeful,
Just read your post and it devastates me how the insurance companys can come between our pain and our possible relief. It is unbelieveable that this is actually legal (one of my rants is ins co's). But I am cheering for your Doc. I bet he can get something done for you. When a Doc goes to bat for you often they can achieve what we never could (another of my rants). But I am having a very good feeling about this and sending tsunami's of positive energy to you - :

He will get it for you, he is a doctor and doctors rarely get refused anything.

Reminds me of the old joke

Whats the difference between God and a Doctor?
God doesn't think he is a doctor. Boom Boom

Default Dear Hopeful

Hi hopeful,

I too have been denied IVIG from my insurance, I am trying to look at it this way, it's just God's way of saying "not yet" and when the timing is right I will allow it to happen if and when you need it, so I continue to trust him. I don't understand why the insurance company denies these requests from our Doctors, if our Doc's feel we would benefit from IVIG who are they to deny us! However having said that, I just saw a new neurologist at a University Hospital here in Los Angeles, she is going very slow in treating my SFN, she is trying to solve the mystery of what is causing this symptom, she said she does not agree with my other Neuro Doc in his wanting to treat this right away with IVIG, she wants to run other tests first, I thought I had, had every test under the sun but I guess there are more to do. I am getting worse but I trust the Lord and I trust this Neuro Doc because she has had many patients with my same symptoms. You asked all of us to pray, I will do that for you, and I can also use your prayers as well. We will get through this, hang in there it will be ok! Blessings, Jan

Thanks for all that positive energy. The insurance companies really tick me off. Who would ask for IVIG rx if they didn't need it? They are in it to say the company money at the expense of peoples health. What a shame. I will let you know what their next response is.
