I was diagnosed with idiopathic peripheral neuropathy in March of this year. (I was prescribed 300 mg of Lyrica in addition to the Zoloft and Celebrex I am already taking for fibromyalgia and arthritis.) All tests results have been "normal" except for the EMG and nerve conduction. The severe shocking pains in my feet and hands have abated for the most part, but I have these "zaps and sparks" in feet, ankles, hands and wrists. The tops of my feet burn and the bottoms have this buzzing feeling. When I explained to the neuro that I get these pinching and zaps all over (like in my face, eyelids, neck, armpits, forearms, thighs and hips) he looked at me like I was crazy. He wanted to blame that on my fibromyalgia and suggested I see a rheumatologist.
My question is...does anyone else experience these symptoms? I didn't feel that the neuro and I connected very well. I'm going to another one on the 22nd at the suggestion of my PCP. |

![]() All neurologists are not created equal; there's just too much to know about too many conditions; even the specialists are having to specialize. Hopefully, this next guy will specialize in PN, and have seen more (varied) cases. At the very least, we all need doctors who will listen, believe us, and with whom we can build a relationship of communication and trust. Doc
