I want to get opionions on which drug you have tried that is weight neutral? I've read where some have gained 30, 70 and up pounds on certain drugs. I"m already , about 50 over and I don't feel I need to gain anymore , plus trying to exercise when i"m not in pain so the meds would be counter productive as the weight won't help the burning in legs/feet . So please let me know what you suggest and what you found that worked best for you . I"m also hoping to not feel like a zombie

Here is an article with drugs listed contributing to weight gain:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16341287 Not everyone gains weight though, but enough to be noticeable.

I have a theory. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction (Einstein) so this applies to weight gain as well. For example if an experiment was done in say a very poor country such as Ethiopia by taking a group of people who have limited access to food and were showing malnutrition.
Give this group a course of weight gaining drugs and study the results without increasing food intake . Would they gain weight? They may gain water through water retention but would they pack on 20lb? I cant see how that would be possible Limit our food intake to match the energy we burn. When i was at my worst I was couch bound and eating 3 square meals a day the result was always going to be unpleasant. PN ers have it tough that way. These days I eat 1 small meal a day and snack on fruit and am renaming neutral Digressing... The answer to the question of which drugs I would say any opiate. As I have mentioned before, ever seen a fat drug addict |

thanks so much for the info. I totally agree with your opinion and I'm trying to watch my intake of food and then do exercises to counter act it all , calories and helping the nerve endings. I just would like to know there is something i can take that is weight neutral , doesn't make me feel like a zomibe and take when i need it . At this point I"m not taking anything on a reg basis , I"m trying to do as much with supplements, exercise and recognize triggers. I know the time will come when I"m on something everyday and will be like others as time goes on will be increasing , so until that time i'm going to try to tough it out so I can function .

There are sites on the net with feedback about side effects from drugs:
http://www.drugcite.com/ this one is comprised of FDA medwatch reports. http://www.askapatient.com/ this one is more subjective...and I think some trolls post there. Medications for PN are mostly zombifying IMO. Some may cause weight gain, for some people and not others. Those who typically gain weight by just thinking of food, are most likely to have the weight gain. The types who can eat anything anytime are less likely to have large weight gains.
