Been reading this thread over and I've always wondered about my solvent exposure. Back in the '70s I worked for about 8yrs as a mechanic and we just dunked our hands and the greasy dirty parts right into the solvent tank. Didn't know any better. At around age 45 I was diagnosed with Essential Thrombocythemia - a rare blood disease (cancer). A couple of years later and pre-diabetic period started (repeated fasting blood sugars of 120 - 135) and then the PN in my feet.
I feel strongly that PN and pre-diabetes have a link - perhaps more so in people who are compromised in some way. The fact that I just got my blood sugars under control and my symptoms have decreased gives me some hope but I remain highly concerned.
I am getting ready to add Acetyl L Carnitine and methylcobalamin to my benfotiamine to my supplements. Also considering Stabilized Lipoic Acid as well. I want to protect my remaining nerves how ever I can.
