Default Frightening new symptoms

Lately the back of my shoulders have been tight and tender, Year ago surgery on the right, left handed and over use on the left, (on computer all day). I also had a pulmonary embolism on the left lung a year ago that brings flare up pain in that upper back to shoulder area. (I'm pretty srewed). Anyway, last Saturday morning I began to get the lung pain as I was about to lead a hike with my outdoor group. It passed and I trudged on. Sunday was okay, until the evening when the back of my left leg and mostly into the calve became very painful. Deep. Then both arms from the shoulders became numb (burning) like I was in a microwave. My feet were extra numb. Almost considered the ER but opted for a half of tramodol and half a tylonal and placed my soft ice pack on the neck and arms. It passed shortly after that and I slept well. Yesterday I had the first massage in a year. She did alot of work on the tight shoulders. (It was great) last night as I started to drift off on the couch the numb arms returned strong. I got up moved around took half a tylonal and it went away. I return to the neurologist for another nerve conduction test in a few weeks. SHOULD I ASK HIM TO DO ONE ON MY ARMS TOO?

With that severe pain in the leg?

I'd wonder about another clot.

I'd go to the doctor and get checked out.

Default Clot

I of course have considered that, but I have had so many odd flare ups that I have opted to chill. Let's hope not, especially since the chiropractor and massage theropist pushed around in there so much. It feels like a deep muscle or bone pain, and I have had it in my upper leg for awhile. Thanks, I'll reconcider.

I agree with Mrs.D You don't want a blood clot. I would go in and make sure this pain in your leg is checked out for sure. Also I would question what they are doing exactly with requiring you to do the Nerve conduction tests. To me I would do all other forms of tests before this one. Just my own point of view. ginnie

Default Hi Barb

Glad you got to the doctor. Those sudden pains like that was a good reason to go. Glad they found those clots before further trouble. Get well soon. All my best to you. ginnie

Default pain clots, etc.

Maybe i'm stupid, but I spent so much time last year in the doctors and ERs only to find nothing. I have fibromyalgia, injuries to shoulder knee and neck. Neuropathy in my feet and now showing up in my arms and hands. I'm trying to understand my body and the pressure point pains. I hike a lot adding stress to my feet and leg muscles. My calve pain seems more spasm like. I am on warafin and I realize you can still get a clot, but all they do when they find one is put you on a blood thinner. I also am experiencing a heightened level of pin pricks and itching in my whole body. Last night my left foot charlie horsed and my toes were like frozen until I stood up. So far minimal pain relievers seem to help but I am keeping alert. I do have a chart from the ER they gave me last time that tells you when it probably isn't a blood clot.

Did they find a clotting factor with you. They never found a reason for mine.

No reason given. They installed a Vena Cava filter in my groin am on coumadin. If I even cough twice I worry about PEs. I'd rather be safe than dead. I had a TIA several years ago. My history isn't good.

Default Hi Barb

You are in my thoughts and prayers this morning. I hope you get out of the hospital soon. Hospitals are not fun at all. Just know there are prayers coming your way. ginnie
