Hey guys, I've posted here before regarding some neuropathy I had due to injury in the groin area..
I'm in the process of trying to let things heal, going around a year and a half now, and it's hard to tell if progress is being made sometimes. But I try to remain positive at all times.. My question is, does having a couple drinks every now and then interfere with healing of periPheral neuropathy? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! |

Alcohol can be a problem, and especially for those who cannot
metabolize it well. Benfotiamine 150mg (a special form of B1) or thiamine 200mgs in divided doses daily would help. Some PNers can have alcohol in moderation, and others find it flares them. It is a very individual response therefore.

I'm not really concerned about pain, but more about it preventing healing of the nerves. Do you think this is an issue mrs d? 1-2 times/ week I might have a drink..

Well in my book, pain is a signal that the nerves don't like it.
I cannot say what a drink will do to you. Everyone is very different, etc. But if you have abstained for a long time--- months--- and there is no change, and if you have a little, and there is no change, I wouldn't worry about it. If you don't have progression to feet and hands with a little drinking, I don't think it would be an issue. But that is only my opinion. There is really no way to say, what your injury involves, and how to heal it up. If it is scar tissue, well, that is forever.

I feel the same way. I have always drank very good wines, and it would depress me immensely if l ever thought l couldn't have a drink again. I haven't yet experimented yet as l have only had this for one week.
Will post when l have my first glass of wine. Sue |
