![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As for anything that may be of value to others here, i'm afraid there is not much i can think of that would be of help to anyone here, because it was just basically using a walker for the first day after the op, next day i started on 2 crutches and told to make sure i never put anymore pressure than 50% of body weight on my operated side whilst walking with crutches and that went on until i released on the 5th day, i used to do lap & lap around the whole ward all day long, little i knew that they were right onto me as they had been reducing my anti clotting medication every day, as being active helps to stop any [DVT's] dangerous clots forming & going to your lungs. In hospital i only went to the gym once to see a physio who said i was doimg great & only give 3 exercises to do, squats, leg lifts & pushing my leg outwards from my side. I have just had my first phsyio appointment today since leaving the hospital, no more crutches now and i am walking unaided around the house, but she give me a loan of a walking stick to use for a little while just to help when i need it like for stairs and uneven ground, also given another 10 exercises to do twice daily which are very easy to do anyway. Body positions are very important for the first 3 months post op, as the cut muscles heal and re wrap themselves tightly around the actual hip joint again itself which can dislocate if you move in wrong positions, like bending past 90 degrease or even when sleeping i must put a pillow between your legs to stop any chance of crossing my legs which can cause the prostheses to dislocate from the Acetabulim cup [hip socket ]. ![]() take care Brian ![]() |
