NAC is pretty easy to tolerate. Average dose is 600mg a day. It is a precursor to glutathione manufacture in the liver.
You'll see here in this very complete monograph from WebMD that it can help COPD.... http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supple...TYL%20CYSTEINE There are several doses suggested for various purposes. I think it would be a good idea to ask your pulmonologist just in case. It can help break up thick mucus in the lungs to facilitate breathing. It is not expensive either. It is worth a try, and discussing with your doctor.

I have one other concern. If you're starting 3 antibiotics and supplements also, how will you know which is causing side-effects, nausea, or even helping?

The acetyl carnitine is to prevent damage from the drugs.
It is not for the disease process itself. The NAC will help with breathing, and if it is going to do so, should start quickly. The antibiotics will be weeks and weeks to work. The side effects are more severe and clear cut than with supplements.

I will continue to research on these antibiotics and if you happen to stumble any information in the process of your research of neuropathy, please keep me in mind. You dig information that I would never have found it on my own. I could not stay long on the computer due to my neck and dizziness. Thank you very much. |
