When you see the new doctor, get both a B12 test and Vit D test.
Doctors commonly will say "normal" on the B12 when you are actually LOW because they still use outdated lab ranges. So bring your results here. The new treatment protocols in US are a minimum of 400, and preferably higher. Same with Vit D... doctors test and then use an ineffective D2 product, when you should use D3 OTC. It is maddening, but true. This is the B12 thread: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread85103.html In Japan they had an epidemic in the 1970's of low B12 caused by a drug called Vioform (clioquinol).( Our FDA took it off the market then, so US didn't have this emergency.) Thousands of people were affected and ended up in wheelchairs, blind or dead. So Japan was the first country to be aggressive in B12 management.

I will do that. In reading about what I have I did see that it could be caused by a Vit B12 deficiency. I just started taking it. I don't eat right and that could be the problem. If it was a B12 def that is causing it I wonder how long it would take to reverse it? Thanks for all your advice. It's very much appreciated. |

It depends on how low you were to begin with.
If you had 800 for a reading before supplements, you would not respond much to more B12. If you were 200 or less? You might respond more quickly. Within a month. Dose is also a factor. And type you take. Methylcobalamin is the best form to use orally. You have to take it on an empty stomach to insure it will be absorbed at all. 5mg a day would give faster results than 1mg a day.
