I've been taking NAC for years and recommending it to many people here for different reasons. It's an excellent antioxidant, and it helps protect the liver for anyone who takes (or needs to) Tylenol/acetaminophen/paracetamol (or meds that contain it, e.g vicodin, percocet) on a regular/longterm basis.
I've taken it on & off of late, and while I can't say I've noticed any difference in inflammation, that doesn't mean it isn't worth trying. Here's the Wiki link. Use Google for more info. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acetylcysteine Doc

Would this supplement help people taking naproxen (Aleve). I assume it being an NSAID it would also be hard on the liver? |

NAC is a precursor to glutathione synthesis. This may be how it works, and not a function of its own traits.

If it can't hurt to try it, then it can't hurt to try it. NSAIDs can be hard on liver & kidneys both, and while NAC can help protect both, I wouldn't advise abusing them based on that, and I'd still have my doctor regularly monitor organ function. Doc
