Do your blood vessels look different in both feet? I have blood pressure issues that at times only seem to affect my left side- my left foot will look like the blood vessels are overly engorged. and other times cold and my veins will disappear completely.

I ordered Benfotiamine and B 12 ...any suggestions on how much a day? I saw MrsD suggested taking the B12 without eating

I was curious about the effect of carbs. I will definitely be more vigilant about controlling them!

How do you all handle shoes and the workplace? For the first time in almost 10 years I will be working outside the home for non-family members. I'm so anxious about shoes, socks, the dress code, etc.
Hi! Welcome! These people are great! I'm new here also but I wanted to comment because I also work outside the home and we have to wear shoes either tennis shoes or dress shoes. Flip flops are against our dress code. So because I sit at a desk all day I usually bring a pair of flip flops to put on once I get to my seat. In winter I just try to deal with the tennis shoes as best I can and sometimes go to the restroom to take them off for a little relief. Sad isn't it? I feel your pain.

Hi...just a question on the benfotiamine? I read elsewhere that too much of this vitamin can be dangerous. What do you all recommend people take? I have never had it tested so I don't know where I'm even at with that right now. I'm a worrier especially when it comes to my health. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Really? I have not read anything that talks about too much and dangerous. What did it say???

Everything I read said it was safe and reported no side affects and I thought you can't store it up easily too.

Ihave read a lot of studies and information. Not heard anything bad. There are so many reasons I take it.

I'm sure you guys have read way more than I have. I just looked it up real quick to see what good sources of food were for B1 and it noted on the bottom to consult your doctor first because large doses of B1 could be dangerous. How much should I be taking anyway?

Please give us the source.

Many internet sites have legal disclaimers to protect their interests.
Mostly those are the ones who sell things.
The disclaimer is generic and says "may be harmful" etc about everything equally usually.

Others like Linus Pauling Institute give real data:

http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/vitamins/thiamin/
Quote:
Toxicity

The Food and Nutrition Board did not set a tolerable upper level (UL) of intake for thiamin because there are no well-established toxic effects from the consumption of excess thiamin in food or through long-term oral supplementation (up to 200 mg/day). A small number of life threatening anaphylactic reactions have been observed with large intravenous doses of thiamin (12).
As far as doses go, I gave you my suggestion already.
