Went to the Neuro doc because the Gabapentin either doesn't work well or if I take enough I'm a complete idiot. So he wants to try something else, again.
The one on his list he said had the least amount of side effects is Oxcarbazepine. He gave me a prescrip and I need to fill it out today. I'm wondering how it's affected those of you out there. Unfortunately I've been sick with a bad cold and my brain isn't working well between the gaba and cold meds. Tried Despramine and I didn't like the way it made me feel, I woke up sweating every night at the lowest dose. Because I"m on Wellbutrin and just started Zoloft (to help with my depression and anxiety) I'm not too keen on adding another depression drug. Can't take Tramadol, which he recommeded. I took it years ago and had a horrible reaction that included vomiting. Suggested Lamactil, but my dad, who actually gets seizures, said this one caused him neuropathy, so I'm going to avoid it. Have a generic only prescrip plan ![]() He suggested a couple other things, but they're at home and I can't remember them all. One of them was Depakote. Doc still also won't acknowledge that my neuropathy was caused by either my burn or by the 3 day epidural. We've ruled out diabetes, B vitamin and I have my thyroid under control. All he says is that he's treating it based on assumptions to the cause. |

Nobody? I did end up going ahead and filling the prescrip. It's one of those "ramp up" meds. I took my first one on Friday night, another Saturday night. I noticed on Sunday my feet weren't totally buzzing. Yay?

I'm up to 450mg a night, didn't even take the Gabapentin the past couple days, I just don't think they're doing anything anymore. My guess at this point is the Gaba just kind of puttered out. I still haven't taken the Oxcarbazepine yet during the day, my nerves get worse in the evening, but also because of the cold. So if I keep my feet warm it seems to help more than taking that stupid Gaba pill in the morning.
