Bit of an update. As a reminder, I’ve been taking 5000mcg of Jarrow B12 daily (per advice here, I'm chewing it rather than letting it dissolve in my mouth), Jarrow D3 (2500 IU), and one SlowMag twice per day. I’ve also been taking 2 fish oil pills before bed.

It seems to me that there has been some improvement. Last Saturday my mother wanted to go to a local craft fair that’s fairly large, and I was worried my feet would be on FIRE after all that walking, and was reluctant to go. But we walked around for, like, 3-4 hours, and my feet weren’t burning like they usually did. They were throbbing (just that painless heartbeat sensation) and I had the muscle tics in my feet and legs, but no bad burning.... I was feeling pretty good Monday & Tuesday, and today isn't bad, but I noticed a bit more throbbing and tingling. Also the tiny, painless muscle spasms in my feet and legs that are irritating and uncomfortable. Still, I shouldn't complain too much since they don't actually hurt.

I still think my feet are sweating more than normal too.

I don’t want to jump the gun and pronounce myself on the road to recovery, since it's only been about 9 days of taking the supplements. I won’t rule out the possibility that this isn’t the ultimate solution and something else is going on. I’ve learned never to be too hopeful with this sort of thing!

Is there anything else I could take that might help the muscle spasms? Should I take more of the SlowMag? I think I read calcium can help, as well as potassium, but since I'm on Spironolactone I'm not supposed to take potassium supplements. My doctor tested my potassium levels when we did the B12 test, so unless it's a similar thing to the B12 levels that are frequently misdiagnosed, I don't think I'm severely deficient in potassium. I'm trying to do a daily Epsom salt bath to help.

Also resisting the urge to double dose and take 10,000mcg of B12 daily. I have a horrible habit of overcompensating on this sort of thing.

PS: I have custom orthotics, since the very first doctor I saw for this issue before Christmas diagnosed me with hallux limitus.

If you had numbness in those areas before, there could be tingling as the nerves wake up. I had that with my hypothyroid feet.
In fact it took just about a whole year for my feet to wake up again.

You can try soaking in epsom salts, also...If you have poor circulation in the lower legs, the oral will not get down there very well, and topical use will work better until things normalize.

My left foot swelled up day before yesterday, again, and I tried the new Epsom lotion from Morton, that I purchased at the WalMart on Sunday. It was very quick, in resolving the swelling and pain. Only $5.98 for 8 oz too.
If you don't want to soak in epsom salt baths, this will work too!
I am very pleased with the results. I can't recommend it enough!

I actually never had any numbness. I can't imagine trying to walk around with numb feet, although at times with the burning I WISHED they were numb.

Epsom lotion, huh? That's interesting. I never knew there was such a thing. I'll see if I can pick some up this weekend.

I used the CVS epsom lotion, for over 2 yrs, but they discontinued it due to low sales.

The Morton just came out. It is almost an identical formula except the CVS had a small amount of capsascin...which Morton's does not. I use the lotion almost every night. It also has a big impact on my high blood pressure. When I start to get really "tired" I skip a night. (I take beta blockers now to lower it)

My doctor thinks my swelling ankle/foot is due to angioedema.
I haven't gone to the immunologist specialist yet for testing for that. I think I will do that in Sept. Otherwise I can't find a podiatrist or doctor
to explain that foot. It is my surgical foot that had a tumor removed long ago...and the thought is that the swelling is
lymphedema. But the magnesium topical lotion takes it down quickly. Climbing stairs seems to aggravate it. And we live on a hill. I felt a severe pinch pain on Sunday climbing our stairs to the front door. So I expected this last swelling attack.

Thank you for the information. I'm going to try that lotion.

Looks like my local Walmart also has that lotion, so I'll probably buy some in the next few days.

I was just looking at my SlowMag and realized each pill only contains 143mg of magnesium. I think the recommended daily intake for women is around 350-400, so I may try taking 3 pills per day.

Please do the topical first. Magnesium Chloride is much more absorbed, so the smaller dose is matched to that factor.

If the topical works for you as well as for me, and some others who use it here, you may not even need oral much.

Dosing of magnesium depends alot on what you eat. The twice a day SlowMag takes into consideration eating about 1/2 the RDA...which studies suggest. The lotion lasts a long time, as you don't slather it on, either. About a quarter coin diameter on each limb is enough for a whole day. You will save $$ then as the bottle lasts a LONG time.

Really, we are so lucky to have this new Morton lotion...it makes fixing magnesium so easy and pleasant! and affordable!

Quick update - bought the lotion, no major changes yet. Still twitching from feet to thighs, tingling/pins and needles in feet as well, sometimes a strange burning sensation (kind of a cold feeling burn).

Wondering if I should start taking the Jarrow B-Right supplement? I want to make sure I'm not missing any supplements that are important in the support of B12 absorption.

B-Right is a nice formula. Has more than a multivit... but less than high dose complexes. Jarrow has reformulated and it has the active forms of folate, and B6 too. Very nice.

Many people over the years, have used this one and commented about how successful it has been for them. And it is not terribly expensive either. So yes, give it a try.

Are you trying some Fish oil? Fish oil (or krill if you prefer) has anti-inflammatory actions, and also helps with providing the fats to repair the myelin on the axons of the nerves, if they are damaged. It might help also for you.

Default Hello crime of passion

I have been taking B12 shots 1000mgs weekly for over a year now. I have gotten better in my feet with the PN. Also take B12 pills and a few other suppliments. Yesterday was the first time in over 5 years, I could walk on the beach without much pain. ginnie
