Jason, here posted this on the B12 thread. So I am reposting it
with its own thread...because it is a very good video. It is long, but please watch it all, even if you have to pause it. The information on oral, and methyl form is done briefly, and that is its only "deficiency". The book mentioned, has been mentioned here and on other internet sites. All in all it is a very good video to motivate people and their doctors to get testing done, and proper treatment! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvEiz...ature=youtu.be

I've reposted this on marrow forums. Too many times I hear hematologist dismiss B12 deficiencies as a possible cause because the B12 serum came back OK.
This was an eye opener regarding B12 and pregnancy. You have to wonder how many blood disorders that show up after giving birth can be attributed to folate masking a B12 deficiency. |

I'm wondering about the blurb regarding Folic Acid (about 14:00) when B12 is low & how too much of it can exacerbate neurological symptoms. I thought that Folate was imperative to helping with PN.

Most of the people who come here with low B12, have elevated folic acid in testing.
This is also because of the methyl "trap"... the video says it is because of fortification, but it used to occur before that I believe. http://www.dach-liga-homocystein.org...eure/falle.htm The methylation of folate cannot go the other way, so the methyl group is trapped attached to it, and remains.

I will watch the video today. I certainly learned what low B12 levels can do and that most reg. doctors have no clue. Very sad for many people and the older folks that could do so much better if levels were checked.
Thankfully, good doctors are out there!
