I was reading the newspaper today and opened to a full page ad for people suffering from Peripheral Neuropathy. It was one of those huge, full of text, ads that you have to read to find out what it is. It turned out to be for a Chiropractor who claims to help end years of suffering, etc. through manipulations.
I guess my question is has anyone on this board tried a Chiropractor for their PN? If so, did it help? Hurt? Or no change at all? I did a search for Chiropractor and I see it came up in a few discussions, but I didn't see a specific thread about it. If there is one, let me know. |

Well, there are over 100 causes of PN... only some are mechanical.
The PN community is large, bigger than MS and PD combined, and probably more than that. Many causes are environmental, drugs from your doctor, or vaccines. And that is only a start. The hereditary ones have no treatment really. So the pool for people desperate is large, some who don't want to do their own homework, etc, is large also. Many topical "cures", many shotgun supplement makers, many laser, rebuilder type expensive treatments. We've seen most of the claims here more than once. The truth is that nerves are designed to be a warning system of something not working correctly. They are sensitive, and easily damaged. And the damage can be anywhere along the nerve path, in the dorsal roots of the spine, in the mitochondria of the cells, etc. There is not one specific thing that will work for everyone.

Thanks for the reply. You really are quick to answer and it's very much appreciated. I don't have anyone to really talk about what's going on with my PN and finding this board gives me hope.
So, you mention "Doing your homework" - That's exactly what I'm trying to do, but there is so much information with so many different thoughts and ideas, it's hard to know where to start. My Neurologist is planning on just trying different drugs until he finds one that seems to help. I hate the drugs and would much rather try the supplements but the list is so long and trying to decide what to try first is hard. I'll keep reading and then I'll try to make the right choices. I know it's going to be hit or miss and will probably take some time. Thanks again. |

John goes to Chiropractor and did see some small improvement in his PN. He saw his biggest improvement in his balance and his gait. His gait changed immediately, after just one adjustment.
We also noticed that after he adjusted one of John's ribs, his nigh time breathing normalized. He went because his balance was really off and he just wasn't walking right...Not for the PN. |

I go to the chiropractor all the time, it has never helped my pn. Unless there is something "special" the dr does that mine is NOT doing, lol.
Regular adjustments have not helped my pn. But it DID help my knee and back. ![]() Edit to say: My hip goes out a lot which in turn makes one leg an inch shorter than the other, and after an adjustment I can literally feel the difference, more even walk, no more limp, which is why I go at least once a month to keep my hips even. |

I see a chiropractor every two weeks when I have my accupressure appt. I does not help me with my PN but I do believe it is important for everyone to keep in alignment. At least for me it is.
