My Neurologist switched my medication two weeks ago from Gabapentin to Elavil. I take 25mg at night an hour before bed. Since I've been taking it I have a terrible ringing in my ears. It's maddening. It's like a high pitch squelch that just drives me nuts. The medication is also making me very groggy during the day. I don't think I can continue on this medication. It also hasn't done anything for the neuropathy at this point, in fact the last two weeks have not been good.
Does anyone else have this side effect from Elavil? Can I just stop taking elavil or do I have to ween off of it? I just started taking supplements as suggested here. I know they take some time to start helping. I'm not sure I can take any of the drugs that the docs want to try. Just looking for some thoughts from other folks here and what they've experienced. Thanks for listening. |
