My mom has BMS and I have searched the net about it, not much to find, the usual things can cause it and no cures just things to help with it. We have not found out why she has it. She does have pn and she is on some medications that can cause dry mouth but BMS is more severe than just dry mouth.
good luck, if you have any great cure/remedy, please share, Iam always looking for things to help my mom. |

Mine isn't very bad but I know someone else who has significant pain. You probably know more than I do, neuropathy meds, B vitamins, etc. I did see that ACE Inhibitors or Angiotension 2 Inhibitor BP meds can cause it and I take the latter. There is also a sneaky kind of oral candida that doesn't cause the typical thrush symptoms.

I have seen that lipoic acid is supposed to help too.
Yes, the ACE inhibitors, are nasty... my gums and throat used to swell up before my critical recent attack of angioedema! Even my tongue swelled up! My eyes were worse however, stinging and burning like you wouldn't believe!

I used to have this. It was horrible. Biggest foods to avoid are anything spicy and all carbonation. No soda at all. A really good thing to use is Biotine mouthwash. There's prescription for this as well called magic mouthwash. Rather nasty, but it does help too. Much of the cure for this is diet controlled.

Judi,
Could this burning mouth a side effect of some of your lung medications? |

Thanks everyone. At least mine isn't as bad as some have it. Mrs D, I have angioedema on and off when I take my inhaled steroid and it gets worse when I try Advair, I wonder if its the BP med doing something in combination?
Stacy is your mom on any COPD meds? Idioppathic PN, I'm sure my dumb meds do have something to do with it. I don't know if this would help you but I bought an air purifier a couple of days ago and the difference is remarkable. I think I will buy an additional one that's larger. If you get one just be sure it doesn't emit ozone, that's very bad for your lungs. Im going to try to find out about 'magic mouthwash' for the woman who is has it very bad. judi Does anyone know what type of neuropathy might be likely to cause this, diabetic or autoimmune? I think my mouth has neuropathy, I just put a little cayenne on my tongue and it burned a little but not as much as it should have. Last edited by zygopetalum; 05-09-2013 at 10:15 AM.
