Default Another EMG today

Just a little nervous about today...going to the University Neurodiagnostics to get another EMG, no doubt this will show large nerve PN progression, since the one in town did. Maybe will get some answers as to why soon. Why does this frighten me so much? It IS better to know, right?

Also wanted to thank you all, especially MrsD, for this wonderful site. Truly, I have learned more about diet, supplements, nerve anatomy and physiology, prescription meds and topical treatments than I ever would have from a doctor. During the last 4 years that my PN has progressed, I have been so frustrated by the 5 minute doctor appointments and various prescription drugs thrown at me, and nothing getting better!!

We have to take charge of our health, and this is by far the best site I have seen to help you do just that.

Frown

Sigh. No answers. My sural nerve damage is slightly worse than 4 years ago. I have some slight motor and sensory damage in my feet in nerves that have never been tested before. My motor/sensory function in upper extremities is normal. I probably should get copies of the testing and learn more about it.

Back to the rheumatologist, who wanted to hear what neurology said. Which is--they feel that despite normal lab work because of family history and positive ANA 10 years ago--I probably have a slowly progressing autoimmune based neuropathy; currently affecting my left lower extremity. Based on normal upper extremities, she didn't feel insurance would even cover a test for CMT.

I just feel pretty sad right now. Like I am spinning in circles with no plan.

Thanks for the update, and affirming original post.

Perhaps this is an hereditary problem? The CMT testing is so expensive... sigh.

The motor elements are concerning and I can sympathize with you on that. I really cannot help much when motor issues appear. I think that shows some serious process at work, whatever it is.

I just only have the training for certain things...
