Red face OMGosh....

I know this feeling... I just fell again last fall at my son's new townhouse!
Mortifiying since his old pal from High School was there...I tripped over a stupid
step that was not obvious...in the middle of the sidewalk. I too was carrying grocery bags. I have TRI-focals...and the step was in my Blur Zone.
Falling in a street...that must have been horrible!

I know that zone well.

I hope you are okay, Bob.. I too had a road rash.

One must be very viligiant these days... my downfall (pun intended) is daydreaming...I am always thinking about stuff...work, answers to this board, etc. I am very careful now around stairs--we have alot of them here at home.
I do not look around, or think about ANYTHING but my feet on stairs. If someone talks to me, I am a not "there" until I am done.

12 responses! For probably the funniest pratfall since Jerry Lewis retired from doing that kind of shtick. (He's on a pain pump from all those intentional falls)
If somebody coulda taped it, it would have looked like Spiderman without his web shooter (but a really out of shape, fat Spidey).
Thanks, all - for bothering to come to my post. It makes me feel a bit better.... reading the posts.
But my knee & palms still are a bit sore.
I'm gonna get new specs next week. these are too old and I feel like a new pair of frames, anyway. My Rx hasn't changed but minimally- I had an exam from my surgical opthomlogist just about 8 months ago.
He said to come back in 2 years.
You're right Mrs D. It was right in my 'blurry' zone.
BTW, I always schlep at least 2 bags in each hand. I balance them out to reduce the load. They weren't all that heavy, just bulky. Paper towels, toilet paper, coffee, creamer, "Li'l Debbie's" (gotta have sumpin' with my cuppa), etc. Good thing I didn't have apples or oranges- that woulda been a '3 Stooges'- runnin' around chasin' rolling fruit in the cross walk of a busy intersection.

That was good dalek. Can you imagine if we were told all PRers had to live,
in houses with stairs and brick streets all by each other. Now that might be
very funny or not. Sue

Default Gee Bob!

Sorry to hear you fell in the street. Bet that smarted! Thank goodness you didn't get hit by a car...

Have you ever thought about getting one of those carts that people use at flea markets? They are usually black, red, blue and are a well-constructed, folding wire frame on wheels. They would be great for holding groceries. You just load it up, push it in front of you and it might even offer you some support when you walk.

In our area, they cost about $20-24.... Most people put a plastic liner in it to keep things from falling through.

Heart

Oh, Bob,

That's reminds me: my son and I were running to catch the train after a day spent at the beach.

My legs just gave out right in the middle of the street. I fell right on top of the bag of sea shells. My son almost had a heart attack when he heard all the shells breaking -- he thought it was my hip

I know what you mean about 'slow motion', when I looked up there was a 18-wheeler heading for me. I've never prayed so hard for "good brakes" in my life

Looks like you've got a lot of company -- fellow fallers. Maybe we can start a national organization -->> Slo Mo Oh No's!!

Hugs.

Barb
