I really feel bad for others like me who have no a/c in their living rooms but only in the bedroom. I'm afraid to keep running it because it's 15 years old. It still works fine but jeez. It's old. Today they expect the heat index to be 105. What the hell kind of weather is this? This is Brooklyn NY for heaven's sake. We don't get heat index's of 105. NEVER.

Well, I do remembere when I was 18 and coming home from work (this was over 47 years ago (not good at math, lol) and I remember looking upwards over the bank and they had the temperature and the time. I remember seeing it saying 105. I remember people walking around me with bottles of water and pouring the water over their heads. Oh, I think this was 1965 and then we had the BIG blackout and I remember reading that 9 months later there was a baby boom. God, the stuff I remember. lol

...global warming/climate change. Not trolling for a political debate -- that's all I'm going to say on the subject.

Hope things work out for the best for you & Alan.

Evaporative cooling (spray bottle and window fan ) can work wonders.

94 has been so far the hottest recorded here in Florida this year. And people are complaining!

I hope that whatever your "stuff" is, it'll be resolved soon. My thoughts and prayers for you and Alan.

Take care.

HI Mary:

I used to go to Florida all the time when my parents moved there when I was 24. That was over 40 years ago. I will NEVER forget my first experience when I arrived at their home in Port Richey. This flying thing came out of nowhere and landed on my father's car door. I screamed and said "what the H is that?" My father promptly announced "Oh these are Palmetto Bugs". I said 'Palmetto WHAT??" He said "They are like flying waterbugs. That is all I had to hear. I then ran into the house (which I had never seen) and all I saw was that everything was in pastel colors. I then went into the backyard and sat on a chaise lounge and these lizards started flying over me. I screamed again and my father started laughing and said "what's the matter, are you afraid of little lizards".???? My father was putting down tiles on the outside and he was taking his hands and swatting hundreds of these little lizards. One got in the house and my mother was chasing after it with her broom. I then announced "You all are mentally ill, you have flying waterbugs and lizards". They never stopped laughing and I flew home as soon as I could. I will NEVER forget that experience. And don't get me started on the Love Bugs and the special screen my father had on the car. It's like this happened yesterday and it's over 40 years.

lol

We used to have a pool (I called it the money pit ) and come July the water was like bath water. Not cooling at all. And we had to keep the chemical level up all summer or the water would turn green! We probably got two good months of use out of the whole year......thus the term "money pit"!

Well, we have plenty of lizards here. But they just remain outside. Lol.

Oh also, there are quite a few of armadillos that are run over by cars. And, a lot of ducks in our pond.

Hi Dr. Smith.

I have never seen this kind of a heat wave in such a long time. Since I was a kid. This is really bad. The air is thick. No relief. The trees do not move. No rain in a week. We REALLY need a good rain to cool everything off.
