Some days my PN is terrible. It gets so bad I cannot concentrate or sleep. Then some days it about completely disappears. What are anyone's thoughts on triggers to PN. Any thoughts on diet, exercise or sleep on how it affects your PN? Thank you for your help.

Same for me.
I can be great one day and miserable the next day. I use to think certain foods were triggers, but truth is, I don't think so anymore. I can't find any rhyme or reason to triggers. I use to say when I cheated and ate lots of sugar or carbs triggered but there are times I cheat big time and feel fine. Oh how I wish I did know, so I could change it or stop it. |

Please post more about yourself.
There are drugs, toxins and vaccines That cause PN. Low thyroid, diabetes or beginning glucose Impairments, nutrient deficiencies, Autoimmune diseases, hereditary Types called CMT and about 100 or more causes. Suggestions for you depend on what tests you have had already and your history. Some foods like gluten and nightshade Veggies, and additives like MSG can Be triggers. Some mechanical problems with feet Can compress nerves too. Low weather pressure fronts can make pain worse or flare PN.

PN is lousy, no question about it. I don't think there is any one thing that helps. There are numbers of things that may help. There are compounded creams with Ketamine in it, along with other things. I can list them for you on a PM if you want. I use lidocane patches, bio-freeze, and yes, when it gets awful, a narcotic. I do my best not to take them.
I go see a doctor called a physiatrist. This type of physician in my case specialized in pain. I am on a host of vitamins that have helped over the last year. I take B12 shots fairly often, administered to myself. Last year I was in a wheel chair. This year I am back to walking. All of these things have helped. I don't have it all over my body however, just in the left foot, ankle and calf. This type of doctor treats the "whole" person and thinks outside the box. Maybe try to see if this type of doctor is in the area you live in. I sure hope you can get some help. ginnie ![]() |

ginnie, could you send me your list??? Maybe it has something I don't know about. Do the patches really work for you? I doubt I could use patches since it's my toes.

Yes of course, I will get the jar....This stuff does take the burn out, and the edge off the pins and needles. Ketamine/Clon/Gaba/Imip/Mefen/Tetra/ (1)
10%. Just show your doctor this and he will know. Also the lidoderm patches do work on the toes. You can cut the patches up, into thin strips. Just a little more sticky than a bandage to put around your toes. My great toe joint is shot, and I wrap it up in lidocane thin strips all the time. The patches have one down side. They are hard to remove, and kinda pull. If you get in the shower with them on, they remove better. It is 12 hours on, 12 hours off. Bio freeze is a gel type substance. This also works. I use a combination of these, and suppliments, and sometimes a narcotic. I do believe the B12 shots have helped me too. I was in a wheelchair for any distance I had to go last year. I am now walking again with less pain. I really hope some help can be found for you. PN is not fun. Take care, ginnie ![]() |

Thanks! The bio freeze has never really done much for me, though I use the salon pas which is "like" biofreeze.
When I am desperate like last night I put my feet in a bucket of tap water. It feels great since by then I usually have put something with methyl on them so it feels even colder which then makes them feel even cooler when I take them out of the bucket of water. Bucket of water works great but who wants to sit around with their feet in a bucket of water? Sometimes....I get sooooo tired of my life and thought process always consumed with my feet. ![]() |

Walking/exercise hurts & causes burning, but short-lived and better in the long run. Sleep, for me, is a must. Not enough exacerbates all kinds of pain & symptoms. I have trouble sleeping 8-9 hours at a time, so some days I nap or sleep in shifts. Doc

Sleep, so true!! I never sleep 8 hrs at a time. Usually 4 to 5 hrs in a single sitting, which sleep experts say you need 3 to 4 COMPLETE rem cycles in one night, which I never get.
The whole food thing use to be triggers for me but now...who knows, I can't even tell anymore. But as you said doc, exercise hurts briefly however the days I exercise are wayyy better. |
