I Just returned from an appointment with my Neurologist. He believes that I had ” Lyme Disease”. I went through a month of taking antibiotics after 4 blood tests. My Doctor did his residency in New England and is very familiar with the disease. Apparently, the “Spirochete is dead”, or hiding real well.. The spirochete attacks the nervous system. My neuropathy is in my legs, ankles, feet. I have the normal earth shattering deep pains plus constant leg cramps. Does anyone here think that Lyme disease can be the cause? I've been fighting this for a few years.

Yes, it is possible. We have had several people here over the years.
It is best to search "Lyme" in our search engine here, since some people post infrequently or only in the past, and have moved on. Also to consider are the drugs you used. Some antibiotics are hard on nerves...long term use can damage mitochondria in cells. Our mitochondria are mutated bacteria that were incorporated into mammalian cells to provide energy for us. They therefore are susceptible to the drugs that KILL bacteria. Typical infections are of short duration, but long term use as in Lyme treatments may damage the host. Flagyl and Tindamax are examples of two drugs sometimes used in Lyme treatments that have nerve damaging potential. Others are the fluoroquinolones like Cipro and Avelox...but those are less commonly used.

Lyme is a significant cause of Small-Fiber Neuropathy (among other nasty symptoms)!
Taking Methyl-B12 has been very helpful for me! David |
