Default Antibiotic Cypro

My primary care gave me Cipro when I picked it up the sheet said that in rare cases taking Cipro could cause PN. My pop knew I had PN and when I contacted him I was told don't worry he had never heard of that complication happening.

Anyone experienced this or have feedback

Shocked

Check Google for yourself...
Also Blogs.naturenews.com

Keyword cipro neuropathy

I am on my phone and cannot link right
now.
We have had many here with PN from this
family of drugs.

Take at your own risk..as the PN may be
permanent and occur any time during
treatment.

If you search here you will find many posts
on this problem.

Thanks Mrs.D

I am going to insist on something not in the Cipro family. The doctor said I may have a slight infection in my prostate based on feel.I am not worried about cancer there due to very low PS reading .3 as of 3 months ago.

Thanks Mrs. D
I am going to insist on an antibiotic not in the Cipro family.

Thanks Mrs. D

I am going to insist on another course of action. The doctor felt I had possibility of a slight infection in my prostate not going to risk things. My PN is manageable now with minimal meds

Suggestion:

Doxycycline is the new first line treatment
Some doctors are using now, for prostatitis.

It has the added advantage of reducing
inflammation, and swelling.

edit to add:
I am now on my regular trusty computer and can give you links:

From the FDA to doctors:
http://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DrugSafety/ucm365050.htm

http://blogs.naturalnews.com/new-fda...ixed-emotions/

you can print these out and give to your doctor next time you go.

Default speaking of drugs causing neuropathy

At one point and time I took Flagyl. I believe it has that PN causing factor. I generally think this is all from my back but you tend to wonder about these things. Can something like this really start PN and NEVER go away?

Yes, it can. The antibiotics kill bacteria...and they do so by disrupting cell walls, or attacking DNA in the cell nucleus.

The mitochondria in the cells are descendents of bacteria that were incorporated into cells eons ago as symbionts...to help provide energy in return for a place to live. The antibiotics attack them as well. Short courses of antibiotics are not thought to be problematic, but longer treatments, can be very damaging.

It all depends on the person and that person's genetics.

The fluoroquinolones are very toxic to DNA....so even short courses are potentially problematic. They also have a warning for the elderly, as they enter the brain and cause damage there as the doses go up. 750mg is contraindicated in people over 50 or so.
