Default Pledges Info

Hi, some of you have been asking if 1) is it too late to still pledge, and 2) when do we need the funds?

First, no, not too late! Just PM me! and, with the holiday Monday, me having tests most of day Tuesday, I dont expect to be able to even get to the bank until end of next week - plus, I'm sure the mail is gonna be slow too cause of the holiday! We want to be able to give this in a gift certificate to Billye all at once - so hopefully have all funds together when we do

Thanks all

Default Wonderful but..

Everytime I read this, I just get..as Dahlek says..."warm fuzzies" all over. It is all so wonderful and when it happens, I won't have to sit on this *** (unmentionable) that screams. I'll be able to do it prone in the bed. The "but" above is that I remember reading somewhere about all of the discussion you all had about systems, brands, etc. But I can't find it this morning. Can anyone point me to it? We are reading everything we can find so that my husband can make the decision based on what is available and best for me. I wanted to print it out for him. He is excited for me. He ordered a couple of special pillows in order to make the bed more comfortable for me to use the lap top.

Lightbulb Well if my son were responding here...

He'd say get APPLE.

But here are the links to Dell if you want a new unit with Windows XP on it:

http://www.dell.com/content/products...=19&l=en&s=dhs

http://www.dell.com/content/topics/s...=19&l=en&s=dhs

I know it is hard to choose... I'm rather glad we got our Dell laptop before the Vista introduction! So we were spared this choice! LOL

I think that Apple is going to get a lot of business because M$oft has
jammed Vista down all new buyer's (off the shelf - Best Buy,
Comp USA, etc)
throats.
I'd say Apple too. I'd seriously consider it if I were buying a new laptop.
Otherwise, special order from Dell and specify XP with ability to upgrade to Vista in a year or two, after most of the fixes are in.
The only problem with Dell is that if parts (hardware upgrades. memory chips, motherboards, etc) are needed, most aren't available off the shelf. Dell's hardware is special and has to be a Dell part. (but that's the same with Apple, too)

Default Laptop

Billye - one thing to watch for when dealing with salesmen - unless you are a closet computer game player (I used to work in the industry - the term used is "gamers') - you dont need a gigantic hard drive! I find that even with all my photo programs, professional office programs, and extensive music and photo library, I still have plenty of room on my 80 gig hard drive.... RAM is more imortant - although I was running on 512 RAM up until a few years ago - a GIG is now really essential to increase speed, work with photos, etc... many systems routinely come with 2 gigs now even.... also, its costs very little extra for a CD/DVD burner - I would expect that on any decent system.... and of course a wireless connection option..... (also, there are lots of good offers out there right now with rebates! - and you can get some significant savings! Finally, with a laptop - as they are a single unit so more prone to injury if dropped or ???? I always purchase (after learning the hard way) to get "accidental damage" warranty - its completely worth it as normal warranty does not cover accidental damage (you can drop it and they fix it)... Just a few thoughts!

Default Apple vs Vista

The problem with Apple is if you are not already set up with them - almost all new software! At least with VIsta there are upgrades avaialble vs havig to learn a new operating system and buying all new programas! :

Default making notes

Thanks guys,
I'm printing all of these posts so we can remember everything. Luckily, my husband is computer savy to a certain extent, so he'll understand the ram, gigs and all the other computer lingo. Me, I just type and push the button and pray. He's had to undo some of the messes I've made, but I do learn, really.
