A column that Maureen Dowd (NY Times) published also comes to mind. She came to Colorado, "nibbled" on a little pot candy bar and as she put it, "lay curled up in a hallucinatory state for the next eight hours". That was her review of trying cannabis in Colorado. She thought she had died and no one told her. We do not need more reviews like that. I think everyone should be cautious with cannabis but especially with edibles until they know how cannabis affects them. |

Agree with your post. MM is experimenting. Actually all drugs we take are a bit of experiment until we find what works for us. A little at a time is a good way to start off in my opinion, either by vapor or edibles.
Actually had a bit of a smile which I shouldn't to the dear person who ate too much and wound up in a bit of a stupor. I tend lately to laugh even when maybe it really isn't funny. However there are a few days I have had, where I wouldn't mind a bit laying around for 8 hours. I need the rest! I am worried about the vote here in Fla. The early questions are about the language of amendment 2. Also the numbers are closer than they originally thought. It is going to be tighter between the sides. ginnie |

Dunno how the system works in CO, but here in CA there are a number of brands of edibles that are well-tested and potency-proven. They state the amount of THC and other cannabinoids on the label and usually offer caveats to the consumer about eating too much. I would advise a new user to stick to these established brands (if available) so he or she could be reasonably guaranteed of a particular experience with a certain amount. There are also, as to be expected, multiple forums where users describe their experiences with every delivery system, so those resources also should be used prior to first dosing. Re-reading your post, Beatle, it's kinda scary to me to think that the CO dispensaries are selling edibles without a full disclosure of ingredients and potency. Yikes! |

It is just starting now:
http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_26...-tougher-rules Most everything here has gone smoothly but still a ways to go with edibles. |

I have every intention of using extreme caution. I actually am hoping to start at a low THC option andadjust up as time allows for some semblance of relief. I don't anticipate a "magic bullet" solution. I just really feel that Lyrica is as high as I can function on (back to 300mg a day broken up into 100mg doses) and Tramadol only does the job if I take it at the right time. Once the pain reaches certain levels it is useless or close to it.
It is disheartening that edibles don't have the 'stats' laid out. One alluring aspect to me was the knowing what percentage of CBD/THC combo is working best. I may have to adjust my plan. Smoking, while not impossible, is complecated by the family dynamic. My wife, brother, sister and in laws are behind anything that brings relief but 1/32 of a 'candy bar' is more nonchalant than sneaking off to toke. If it were longer than a week I'd have more play with it, experimenting, but I want to go in with a plan. It is the same idea as pharma- what gives the most relief with minimal, livable side effects. I do appreciate the advise.

Jon - when I came to the part of your post where you stated you were concerned over 'family dynamics' i felt I needed to reply.
If sneaking outside to smoke a joint brings you relief, then sneak outside and smoke a joint. I believe we are all beyond worrying about others (generally the biggest waste of time there is). We are just trying to make it thru another day of pain without breaking down. If your family loves you, this isnt a problem. Maybe your embarrased by it, but you need to get over it. My wife wasnt exactly thrilled when i first brought some home, but now she occasionally asks if i have enough. You arent going to abuse it and when your family sees it helps, they'll be yout biggest defenders. My whole family is now pro legalization, where a few years ago they could care less. I hope it works for you as well as it does for me. I cant imagine going to bed without medicating first. |

Good news for people in Illinois. I saw this posted on Facebook.
"ATTENTION anyone living in Illinois. There will be a Press conference in Chicago on Monday May 4th at 1p adding Neuropathy to the list of qualifying conditions for Cannabis Medicine in Illinois." I can't find another source for the information, but someone posted it on the Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy's FB page. https://www.facebook.com/FoundationF...eralNeuropathy _______ |
